I had a friend who did very well at landstar and have another one who doesn't want to leave. Maybe your guy was doing something wrong lol
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
Everyone has a different view on what very well is. You can do well at Landstar, but you would honestly do much better leasing to a company that lets you deal directly with brokers/load boards(not Landstars "pool" of agents/board) or getting your numbers.freightwipper Thanks this.

Offer them something rarely if any carriers offer. Guaranteed weekly pay higher than any other OTR carrier offers (no by the mile bs), put them in a nice truck, give them time off on time, treat them as a person not a number oh and yeah not dispatching them into blizzards and ice storms.
Basically all the things I wasn't given when I was a company driver with two companies.poppapump1332, HalpinUout, ArmyGuy and 1 other person Thank this. -
You dispatching them or letting them book their own loads through brokers?

I should be gone by the end of September.
MC and DOT might be here by Friday, or early next week at the latest, then the protest period.
Got a new Great Dane dry van waiting for me in Little Rock. Financing approved for that today, just putting off the funding of it as long as the dealer will let me that way the payment process doesn't start any sooner than necessary.
Got a message on the Qualcomm today telling me my recertification is due September 30, couldn't help but smile.RStewart, Scott72, CaptainDaveG and 7 others Thank this. -
when I say pretty well I mean nothing less then 2k bring home. But he went and got his own authority now. He wants to get into doing direct shipper freight and leave the middle man alonemxpx148 Thanks this.

No way I'd let a driver book their owns loads, biggest reason they'd probably pick the easiest loads which usually is the cheapest.
One example being I've seen Northeast regional loads, 100-300 miles pay more than loads from the Northeast going 2500+ miles to the west coast. It's crazy!
Secondly its safe to say someone driving would be less productive in booking loads than someone who is not.spyder7723 and mxpx148 Thank this. -
Hey, how is Mercer? I been watching trucker Dan on YouTube.HalpinUout Thanks this.
