LS fees are something like....
1.25 per card fee(each time you load your fuel card)
1.75 if you get your settlement loaded to your card...
2.50 prepass weekly
3.69 per week fee( I can't remember what this fee is for)
and I think Im charged .50 per log that I scan(Im on paper logs)
Each time I scan a bill in its like 1.00.....
None of these fees are forced on you...you don't have to use the services if you don't want the fees.
I never notice those fees...those are minuscule.... A lot of guys complain about that because they've never done things on their own and don't know how to run a business. Those are simply service fees for a service being provided. Yeah some companies may offer that free and thats good, but id rather pay the fees and continue to make the $ I'm making.spyder7723 Thanks this. -
$3.69 per week is the "Landstar Communication Network Cost"
also there's the Electric recorder $27.22 per month
Don't forget the tolls which Schneider covers in the Northeast and Chicago area and Landstar don't.
Can't recall if that's everything, still overall it's a bunch more fees plus tolls than Schneider for still a low %

1. Get backhaul loads from large customers (I.E. Wal-Mart, Roses, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Home Depot, Lowes) usually those aren't contract based. It's either out on bid or first come first serve on an email list...
2. Spot Market, where an agent gets a few extra loads that a carrier/shipper can't cover and that's usually inline with whatever the spot market is for that day/week or month. For example there's an agent that I use to deal with that would get 2-4 loads a week out of a cardboard processing plant that they couldn't cover. Depending on where it was going and how the market was (in January compared to the summer) you'll see the reflection in the rate. We use to see that alot, in the Spring time during nursery season coming out of GA or FL it was the pick of the litter..
That's pretty much how it goes over there... there's fair share of contracted stuff and I can tell you the rates usually don't lag behind long and usually when it doesn't get moved the agent just puts it's own money behind it and get it down...
For your double brokering explanation, please look below -
If you so stupid to pull a cheap load that's been double brokered as a BCO, then I don't really want to hear your concerns...
Will say this, even loads that was brokered from Schneider and J.B Hunt paid me pretty good so I aint concerned about brokering, I know my markets and I know my lanes...Hegemeister and spyder7723 Thank this.
