I thought about it, but I'm going to have to take care of a couple things seperately anyway.

Buying a trailer, and will need to assess it for the business when I purchase it. In Arkansas, you are not required to pay sales tax on a semi trailer providing that you have the truck registered in the State. So, I will get the truck registered one day this coming week, get it assessed, and get my IFTA started. Next day, I will sign on the trailer, go get it assessed, then go pick it up in Little Rock with the truck.

Finance guy told me that some of the people in the revenue office get pretty anal about this, so its best to get the truck taken care of on one day, then take care of the trailer a day later so there is no issues. Saving the sales tax keeps $1500 or so in my pocket.

Do you reside in that state? If not you can not get tractor plates from that state. I live in Colorado plates were $2,600.00 BUT after 1st year I pay for only the states I ran in. So the plates will be about 1500.00. I currently lease a trailer as I wanted to make sure I can make it. You need any help just PM me.

To give an general idea on plates. It's about $50 Per state. You can pick and choose which state. This is just an general idea on plates. Also, first timers will have to go to the state capital DMV to register. Unless it's change, you can't go to your local DMV, for first timers.

Just spent some time catching up on this thread. Very interesting. People moving on and up, sounds like.
Sounds like there is an opening for me at Schneider now with all you guys gone.
Congratulations to everyone who is going out on their own or moving to something better.
Yep, gonna get approved and get leased to the big orange. Trucks paid for. I figure I can make it on a buck a mile or so.

Best of luck with your plan Freightwipper.
    Yellow looks good.
Hope you can get a decent driver. A friend was running 3 trucks. It could take months for him to find a driver when he needed one.
Hope it works out for everyone.

I've been off the road about 5 years . Parents got old , so I lived with them about 4 years until they died.
I still have my truck .I haven't started in a year. Dead batteries . Guess I need to spend about $500.
Thinking about what I might do with my truck.
Might just get my own authority. Who knows.
