I delivered there, and the delivery wasn't that bad, accept that I went into the wrong line on the bridge and they hit me up for 100 dollars plus for the toll. Luckily I had the cash on my at the time, or I don't know how they would have handled it. There is a prepass/ezpass lane, but the cash only lane was just that. My nerves caused me to miss the sign.
My pick up out of there was another matter completely. They sent me into a neighborhood of apartments that had small indoor warehouse right in the middle of all of these apartments....all on one land narrow streets and the streets had cars lining all of the streets, thick and heavy. Every single right turn was a swing as far out left as I could go, without hitting cars on the left, followed by a barely scraping every corner, and barely not hitting stop signs and cars on all corners.
I talked to the guy I was meeting there on the phone and he saved me from my GPS hell and told me to stay steady on this certain road even though there were low clearance signs in several places indicating under 13 6. But he said those signs were deceptive and that I should just keep going straight and ignore those signs. I cleared every bridge, but I was biting my nails the entire time. I have no idea why they are mismarked, or were 4.5 years ago. If I had followed my GPS, it was taking my on harrowing turns into neighborhoods every mile just to avoid those overpasses.
When I arrived at the shipper, it was actually an address on a wider road that had an offsite scale that you had to blindside into off a busy street and around cars...it was also an indoor scale, no room for error. I had to weigh empty. Next they told me where to actually go to back in. I was picking up used engine blocks and taking them to Indiana for melt down and recycling. When I arrived at this little warehouse, I didn't think I'd ever get it in this indoor warehouse, blind side, off a one lane narrow street, with cars on both sides of the road. Three guys helped guide me, and I still took 30 minutes to get it in the dock. I wouldn't even call it a dock. It was a warehouse with a sliding door facing the street that I had to back half way into...while in the dock I blocked the entire street and had a car 12 inches from my hood. They took 8 hours to load me, covering the floor of the trailer with sawdust, and loading engines one by one. I then had to proceed to the scale for a second weigh. It was getting dark by this time and I was almost out of hours. When I finally got loaded, I was able to sneak around the block and park on a street in a sketchy looking neighborhood for the night. I don't think I slept a wink. I got up early in the morning and got out of there and never looked back.
Hopefully the money is good for you, but I wouldn't go back there for 10 dollars a mile given my previous experience. Just isn't worth the stress. -
