I've been thinking about running reefer just from all to LA and back. There is alot of produce and such that starts there and stops here. Heading down can be a chore since SLC have 5 reefer mega carriers

I'm still a noob at this not knowing much about the reefer market world.
All loads I've done so far were with different brokers.
If I did shorter loads my RPM would be even higher.

Still good, lots of money out here. About half of what I've done could have went in a van too.

    FullMetalJacket Thanks this.

UPS owner operator next to me at the fuel island started to talk to me, said he's getting $1.20 a mile.
I couldn't bare to tell him I'm hauling a UPS load for $3 a mile.
Soo many people are here are running cheap smh...

Update. End of my 5 month under my own Authority. Another 25,xxx.xx to the truck this month. It has been pretty good. Did a couple local Denver for 18.00 to 50.00 yes 50.00 buck a mile. Really have made some great connections with some brokers. Got a call 4 days from Thanksgiving Tyson was out of spice mix for Turkeys ETC. I was already in bed and she says what does it take to get it to NC right now? I said no way if I miss Thanksgiving I'm dead man walking with the wicked witch. I will only do if you have reload right back. Funny how they got that if needed. It was over 5 bucks a mile there and back.

I agree with @freightwipper the megas are killing the rates. But when it has to be done the brokers call those who get it done.

Truck is holding up great. Right at 300k in miles. New one in October. Will keep this one as it will be paid for.

Hope you all have a great holiday

    Be Safe Out There

when you call brokers or when you're fleased to a carrier that offers you the freight... YOU NEED THEM.
When you post your truck and a broker calls you THEY NEED YOU (not always but all you need is one load).
    See the difference...
When you go to others for freight they're the ones making the money, not you.

The megas aren't "killing the rates", they're just keeping more than their fair share to support their bloated and useless administration.

The ones that kill the rates are the drivers working for peanuts per mile.
Not a mega, not a broker... BUT the driver who accepts to haul cheap freight.
They are the ones who ruin it for the rest of us.
Look what happened to Schneider, once they got a good supply of dummy 6 month experience drivers happy for run for $1.10 they took all the good freight away and what was left they kept more of the rate when they brokered loads to themselves.
@drvrtech77 knows what I'm talking about.
I've bumped into a bunch of those drivers too.
