That's fine and dandy, but what roothog was talking about makes sense. I know from personal experience in helping my dad try and navigate the technological world. It's really unfair for these poor guys. They should at least grandfather them in or something. I won't go into details, suffice it to say, I've been trying to drag him into the tech world for years and he has barely scratched the surface. Basic things we take for granted, he can't wrap his head around.

I'm far from being a tech savvy person. But even i have no problem adapting to the tech part of elogs. Some are so very basic that anyone can do it. Seriously a monkey can. Click the duty status and select off duty at the end of the day. That simple. Will automatically switch to on duty and drive the next time you put the truck in motion.
Or failing that, buy a 99 or older truck. There are options.

I won't argue with you. I just know that what seems easy for some, can be a problem for others. I feel for anybody struggling with tech stuff having seen it myself. Even a gps can be confusing to some of these guys. You can be assumptive with the I can do it so can they mentality, but I never assume.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not asking them to program it, just run it. Also it's been 20 years since computers have been mainstream, 10 since smart phones, there's been plenty of time to begin adapting.

While I feel for those who can't, it's little different then being given a new style of fitting - you either learn the new equipment or you don't keep the job.

Not many are talking about it but I'm pretty confident rates are about to rocket due to elogs.
Soo many trucks now no longer are going to be able to lie, run two log books and etc.
I'm not taking a position on the issue but all I'm saying is more trucks on elogs means less truck capacity.

Couple brokers I spoke to are on the same page and were saying also they're frustrated with more late trucks and rescheduling just over the past couple days.

I have already observed more load posts looking for a team.
Load I'm on now I demanded $5800 on a lane that was paying $3500-$4000 right before elogs. Broker was crying but gave it to me anyway.
One day after booking that load, that very same lane had loads posted from $6000-$7000.

This ain't no holiday rush, there was a clear change in the market real quick.

I agree. I also agree with FW in that there will be a learning curve and growing pains that will affect the market.

only if a bunch more people become truck drivers to make up the difference.
Otherwise these elogs are gonna slow down how much we could pull off.
