And the truck getting .50 cpm more in reality means about 1.50 more overall by time logistics, brokers and sales teams get their cut.
Besides Freightwipper isn't saying .50 cpm more he's saying 4 to 5 dollars a mile to the truck!
That's probably 100% increase in rates.
But I'm the idiot or dupe who thinks that money is not going to come from somewhere.

Bare in mind I'm doing reefer, the operation I run is not normal and I have to outplay the brokers to pull the rates I do.
Plus the truck stays out weeks at a time.
Every day it's a battle.. have weed through lots of BS and phones calls but all it takes is one load.
Average rates are a lot lower but I don't haul average loads.
When a broker calls me I tell them straight up of you want me to haul your load you gotta pay better than everything else posted or at least close to it. If they don't wanna pay no problem their load can sit and I'll pick from a better paying load that's on the board.FullMetalJacket and CaptainDaveG Thank this. -
I think it will level off to an extent here soon but i don't think rates will fall to level prior to this spike...TennMan Thanks this.

until recession hits....

Divided by the number of pieces on a trailer load it’s chump change per unit......
-
Nothing is "chump change" in business no matter how big or small you are.
TennMan Thanks this. -
Remember we are in the dead of winter, slowest part of the reason for trucking and we have been seeing highest rates and load to truck ever recorded.
It's gonna be real fun once winter is over.FullMetalJacket Thanks this. -
First off, there is no definition of "skyrocket" in the article, unless I missed it, which is possible. Some people think, the price of a pound of produce at the supermarket going up a half a cent is like someone cutting off there right arm. Then there are others who pay almost no thought at all to what they spend every week. So, can we have a definition of "skyrocket", before anything else so we know what we're talking about.
Second, to me, the point of the article is that we need more foreign workers or no one will be able to afford groceries anymore. Typical, and I'm not trying to take this thread into the realm of politics, but its leftist claptrap. Instead of telling the real reason why freight rates are going up, they say its because Trump isn't letting enough foreigners come drive trucks.
Sometimes I wonder if critical thinking has been outlawed or something. -
If companies didn’t want to pay minimum wage and play games with drivers maybe they could find/keep them
P.S. Schneider sucks..... especially Green Bay corporate....RStewart, rickybobby, drvrtech77 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Maybe if they portayed it better...like the more regs they levy the more it cost to operate therefore it cost more to haul the good which in turns cost consumers more money...TennMan and SingingWolf Thank this.
