    I have no
I have no use to run 3000 miles. That's crazy.. My equipment is paid off. I can make that and not run half of that..I hope you aren't planning on keeping your truck for long running them kind of miles.. And run flatbed, if I went to cali I'd only go for no less than 7k and that's only 2400 miles so I can't see running 3000 miles for 4800

My experience at Schneider was that 3000 miles a week was no problem. That's when things were good 3-4 years ago though and $2+/mile freight was plentiful. The good thing about the program was you didn't have to spend time dealing with brokers. You just clicked on a load and ran with it. Unfortunately Schneider got greedy and figured out there were enough dumb drivers willing to run at $1.20/ mile.

I'm not with Schneider anymore, I was there 3-4 years ago. Just wanted to make a point that it is possible to be profitable at $1.60. I had no plans on keeping my truck anyway so I wasn't concerned about the wear and tear that comes along with 3000 miles a week.

Well I have 1400 fixed cost, running 2700 miles, netting 1700. One of my bridge runs was 1.15 a mile. The rest about 2.00. Running the west out of phoenix. Denver to SLC 1.15.

I'm not saying a guy can't run 3k miles in a week, but no one can average that over the long term. Every one takes time off on occasion, loads get canceled, trucks break down, etc etc. 3k miles a week is 156k miles a year. That's not happening.

    stevep1977 Thanks this.

Absolutely, anytime I reference 3000 miles that's based on a 7 day period not including time off.

I’m just curious is Mercer Van drivers average $2pm?

I certainly would think so. But I'm just basing that off the on loads i see on the board. I see the van loads when I'm looking for my loads, and they are almost as good as flat rates. A month ago they were every bit as strong as flat rates. 3 months ago they were better than flat rates (feb being the worse month for flatbed)

Edit to add: and I'm not talking about short miles either. I don't consider 2 a mile even decent unless it's going 900+ miles. And to be frank, 2 a mile is only something i consider if it's coming out of a crap area going to a great area like the load i ran out of miami last friday. Think about that for a minute. Miami is one of the absolute worse markets for a flatbed, and loads still pay 2 bucks a mile going to absolutely golden areas. This economy is on fire this year. Make it while its here to make cause it won't be too long before the market is flooded with trucks and rates fall back down.
