I didn't think it would be difficult, but sfi finance doesn't agree, but that's our bottom line. If he could clear that I could stay home. Unfortunately looks like I'll be watching my grandson grow up on the phone. I do hope we could clear twice that as a team though. I still haven't found any threads on the teams. any suggestions?

If you go through all these Schneider threads a lot of us have posted numbers at some point or another, you be the judge.
How much money you make is up to the person running the show.
Some people think they'll join choice, take long easy loads of west and in crap markets and think they'll make lots of money.. WRONG!
To make the most money here basically you have to do everything you hated to do as a company driver. Shorter loads, driving in populated areas, multistop loads etc etc.
Why do you think people that have a "choice" still choose to go to the Northeast?
I'll give you an example.. I started this pay week on Tuesday deadheading 10 miles to Mechanicsburg, PA going to Burlington, NJ drop and hook at both ends around oh 145 total miles and then in Burlington at the SAME place I picked up a Pallet load going 35 miles (drop and hook, live unload).
Between those two loads I drove 180 miles and grossed $658 to the truck with still half a day to work with.
    Do the math...
I've noticed Schneider like to give LOW numbers to new drivers inquiring which I think is a good thing.
Too often recruiters LIE and say oh you'll make soooo much money which I think is wrong.
You can make a lot of money here or you can go broke, it's all up to you.
I used the Northeast as an example.. I mainly run Midwest regional and do very well.
There's some drivers that stay in the Texas regional market and do very well also.
Still no matter what you have to use your brain and be willing to learn.. and learn and learn some more.

As far as trucks go no matter if you go with a new KW or Freightshaker you'll be looking around $1100 a week including all fixed costs. The only difference is you can get a one year one on a new Freightshaker unlike a Kenworth and a Kenworth requires more money up front.
As much as I love my KW I always suggest someone going with a new Shaker on a one year lease because it's the least commitment and risk up front.
I do not suggest a couple getting two trucks, unless you hate your husband and you always want to drive away from him because he drives YOU nuts then it's a different story lol.
I personally know nothing about teams here so I have nothing to add in that department.
I'm a solo driver as I think everybody on choice on this forum is. Don't think I've ever seen a team choice thread or talk anywhere. If there is one I'd like to know also.

I believe it's possible however Sfi will be very conservative with their figures because they want you to succeed and they can see where the markets headed.

I do believe team you'd do 10 k or so easy but it takes discipline and planning.

Absolutely, the 5k is our bottom line net. Thanks everyone for the input. I've really enjoyed reading all the threads. We haven't recieved the slew of emails from sfi finance we did last year, but that's probably because it was so late today when he spoke with them. Hopefully we'll know more early next week. I prefer to set home, cuddled up with my grandbaby picking his loads, but we will see. Good night guys, and stay safe out there.

Dogals posted his numbers last year, you can find it on his thread.
There's youtube videos of people who posted what you're looking for also.

I'm a little confused by your post, in the first part you say that it would be your husband running solo, but in the second part you mention buying two trucks (both running solo?), and also mention teaming. Kinda confused on which one you're really looking at.

Are you going to be buying your own truck from a private party/dealer or leasing one from Schneider Finance?

I gather from your post that your bills are pretty significant due to purchases made when your combined income was around 140k a year.

The sign-on bonus should be the absolute last thing to consider. Remember, it's just an incentive to draw you in.

Do either of you have previous owner/op experience? In another thread of yours you mentioned the following:

Honestly, I think in a situation like that, leasing a truck is just a recipe for disaster. Especially since you're considering going from two incomes down to one.

Sure you read on here about how much some bring home, but remember, that's a tiny tiny fraction of the drivers and by absolutely NO means an average. There have been several that were chomping at the bit to do this whole lease/purchase thing with Schneider because they viewed it as a means to work their way out of some debt. A large number of those crashed and burned because on top of trying to dig out of a hole they were trying to juggle running a business, booking loads, maintaining a truck, and trying to balance their life at home with life in the sleeper cab of a truck. Doing all of that while setting a bar of "I _have_ to bring home this amount per month" may very well be difficult.

There are some couples that do the whole "one drives and one searches for loads" deal, but it doesn't work for everyone. I know one driver that tried the same thing with his wife, and it ended up being more difficult than originally thought because keeping everything in sync was incredibly difficult. While the driver can look at a load and tell if he can do it within his available hours off the top of his head, communicating the same thing to another person can be difficult, especially when loads can come and go on the load board in a matter of minutes. Not to mention the fact that a load may look great on paper, but whoever is driving knows it's either a crappy customer, a crappy route, or they just don't want to go to so and so place and then it's back to the drawing board for both.

I can't offer any insight on the team stuff as I have no experience with it nor have I spoken with any contractors that are on the team board.

Good luck with whatever you choose. It's a decent program and there is money to be made, just be smart and don't get lured in too easily.
