You financed for 6 years? Holy smokes man. Anything more than 3 is just throwing money away.
-
This is not my finance. I was simply using the op's numbers
-
Good credit I got 6 to 8 percent between truck and trailer. I forget exactly.
-
No it's not.
It's good to give yourself the option to add additional principle as you see fit. With a shorter term, you dont have the option of making a lesser payment.Opus, JOHNQPUBLIC and drvrtech77 Thank this. -
The shorter the term the better the loan rates.
-
do better than 5.8% for 5 years. So, not necessarily.
The way I got that rate was to do business at a very local bank (with 2 branches through out the United States for your convenience). I told them, "You know what goes out and what come in. What can you do for me?" They said, "No problem."
Plus, I have a very good credit score. I won't tell you what it is, because no one would believe me.
But, anyway, that's how I did it.Scooter Jones Thanks this. -
Okay, I went through a local community bank (December 2015) that used SBA for underwriting on a new truck, followed by a new trailer a few mos later, rate is 5.5%.
10% down. My credit was healing after a major blow in 2009 due to the housing market collapse, an industry I was vocationally involved in. I think my FICO was around 730 (December 2015) at the time. However, I was persistent with the V.P. of commercial lending and he finally relented
My FICO is now around 824 at last check. EVERYONE wants to loan me money now, which is kind of funny considering no one would touch me with a 10' pole in 2009! LOLinterpreter, scythe08 and spyder7723 Thank this. -
