Oh, come on, I would make a GREAT employee for you. It's been three whole days since I made an office worker question their life choices.

When I went into the office today I was welcomed with "Do you realize the entire IT development staff knows who you are?"

I responded with "If they know who I am why aren't they asking my opinion before they roll out non-functioning applications?"

Dude....I am so chapped at them right now.
Last week I had to BT out of a place in Edwardsville that's within sight of the J there.
They wanted me to BT to downtown St Louis to get an MTY.
So I didn't. Went to P&G and got one and rolled on.
Today, I dropped a relay in Orbitz, and now I'm BT to another place on Alum Street.
    It gets tiresome.

For a while it seemed like the box planners started to get their act together . . . then not so much.

However I have to say it's not entirely their fault. The account I'm running right now will regularly steal emptys from wherever we can find them. If you park at the Oak Creek Pilot with an empty and head in to shower, by the time you come out I will have stolen your empty.

My issue right now is with the Trip Plan App. It can't handle running the recap or accurately calculate drive time from a break location. As a TE I'm "required" to use it. Every time it fails I've been emailing the guy who wrote the app, my RTA, the safety guy, and the OPS manager. They haven't quite told me to pass off yet, but it's only been 2 weeks.

You're right. 5 or 7 years ago Box was a really bad joke.
The last couple of years they were on point.
Lately though they've seemed to be a bit abusive.
There's no reason to send me to downtown St. Louis when I'm within walking distance to MULTIPLE trailers. You know where the Edwardsville OC is. And you know how much business we do out of that park.

Nor is there any good reason (other than to make me hostle trailers for free), to make me go somewhere else to get an mty, (which may or may not be there). I'm at a freekin OC for crying out loud.

The tablets? They basically handed them to us and said, "good luck."
There is so much wasted potential there.

But I still love my daddy.....lol

Box planners have been my number one source of frustration for the last several years.

    My favorite is,
"Don't pick up an mty here, there's not enough for everyone."
    I'm like,
"There doesn't need to be enough for everyone, there just needs to be one for ME!"

    LOL

The logic in sending you to downtown St Louis is because they're looking at trailer pool size AND how long a trailer has been idle. If it's been sitting for more than 15 days at a customer the trailer becomes a "priority" for the box planner. There is a big push to make sure our equipment keeps moving - or the customer pays for holding on to it. I'm also not sure if the box planner can tell if you're an IC or not.

The other thing I've learned over the last year is how fast a customer can go through empties. Two weeks ago I left the plant at 1700 with my last load of the day. When I left there were over 40 empty trailers. When I got back at 0800 the next morning, there were none. One of the customers is supposed to have a pool of 6 trailers. At one point they had 25 loaded trailers. We kept having to bob tail out. The customer finally started the production run and in 24 hours they had 15 empty trailers and were screaming at us to get them off the property. There isn't enough money in the world to make me want to be any part of the box planning team.

I respond with a freeform "Customer directed me to take this empty" and go. Unless where they're sending me is reasonable or I want to bobtail out.

As for the tablets - Words cannot due justice to the rage I feel about our curriculum team and how we are rolling things out. I thought the WorkFlow rollout was bad but the ELD rollout was just . . . . .. . [Please excuse this interruption - Roger needs to go watch the bunnies in yard to avoid a rage induced coronary].

If the thought of living in Charlotte, NC didn't horrify me so much I would be very tempted to apply for the open curriculum job.
