I hate not being able to kinda see what the tech is doing when working on my truck. I really don't trust that all the work is getting done, let alone being done right. Were the oil filters changed? I don't know. Were the critical fasters tightened? Not sure. ect, ect.
One time I brought the truck to freightliner to get the heat fixed on the Park Smart. After an hour I went into the shop and found the tech in the sleeper under the bunk. I had to ask him to follow me, and showed him the heating unit was under the cab. After another couple of hours, they told me they didn't have the right connecter for the diagnosis device and I would have to wait till tomorrow for them to get it. Asked them to please pull the truck out of the bay I have to go back to work.

Oh yeah. I remember that whole situation very clearly. All that was not a coincidence. I'd bet if you watched the tech do the job, you would have freaked out.

Had a load cancel on me one day and figured it would be a great chance to get a PM done. So I call a Freightliner dealer in West Virginia and they got me in within a couple of hours. Went into the shop, talked to the tech and went over the tasks. Really nice guy, explained what he was going to do and all went well. Comes time to leave and I get a $734 bill for a PM. Nothing I can do about it but complain and remember next time to ask for the price before I go in. I would have expected a 10-20% variation, but double??? Live and learn.

Forgive me for nosing in on you guys. There is a FL dealer in Poplar Bluff, MO where I always got great service. I assume they're still there anyway...lol. It's been 3 or 4 years now.

    Wow thats crazy...
In the past I wouldn't mind paying extra to have the past hands on my truck doing and looking over everything say at a dealer vs a TA for example but yeah that mindset has now changed lol.
When I find a good place where ever it may be I'll stick to them for PMs.
I'm leaning towards buying my truck when the term is up so I do want to keep it in good shape.

    Thanks for sharing..
That's outside of my running area though, only time i go south of I64 is when I go home.
Though with winter coming now that might change. I'll run cheaper and go south when bad storms come rolling through.

Yeah I'd rather pay $775 a month vs a week lol
It's more difficult industry wide now for sure.
Means for me sticking in the same old zones doing the same short loads.. blah blah still do well but it's boring.
If I venture out of that now I get burned.
