In Laredo listening to some 'owner operators'
One guy has been one before 'somewhere' but is having the other guy teach him how to manage his hours. He is also being taught how 'you can make good money at .92 cpm' granted I have missed some of the story. But when the other guy can't figure out how to manage his hours, apparently has no clue about his operating costs, still wants to run where HE wants to run, regardless of what the freight in the area pays, and has no plan on what to do when he gets there.....
Holy crap...
I don't want to talk bad about him/then
But seriously, shouldn't the whole point of running your own truck, be to maximize your profit and minimize your expenses?
Or am I missing something?Last edited: Nov 6, 2015
PoleCrusher, drvrtech77 and TennMan Thank this. -
Now Mr .92 CPM apprently made 200k last year.
PoleCrusher, mxpx148 and bigred81 Thank this. -
FW as you know I am in 4th week of being an IC you have to buy the truck at the end of the 3 years from a pure profit stand point the I am guessing your buy out is 50 to 60k and it will be worth an easy 90k. Second while I have spent the last 3 weeks working different parts of the country I tried a FW style easy runs from Texas and OK for 8 days...bad luck from a rejected trailer that cost me 6 hours of running to get a better one...to a shipper that took 10 hours to unload, to a relay (which I know is a gamble at best) that didnt show...bottom line about 2 grand lost...lesson learned at least for me.
Be Safe Out There
Captain Davemike vincent Thanks this.
