The question you have to ask what does the "carrier" pay for and give you 90 cents per mile? Is the insurance paid...? Is the truck at a reduced rate? I can go on for a week...I wonder how many IC's at Schneider know the per mile rate INCLUDES you FSC? I bet alot dont know. So take your 1.56 a mile subtract. 26 per mile in FSC and it sucks with all the payments...yes there are areas that pay more etc but I am just saying as an IC with 30 days in that has spent 7 days each in 4 different markets learning different lanes etc this is not easy...its work there are a ton of things that can effect you, crap and I mean crap trailers, dispatch times that change, traffic, some of the worst shoppers blah blah blah. ..but in one month I made a ton...with learning the system...

    Those mileage programs still suck.
For one a lot of them take a cut out of the FSC. Celadon for example lists FSC at .20 where as right now it's probably really closer to .26
Then factor in paid miles which won't be near actual miles you drive.. which means a lot considering Stevens right now it's listed at $0.85 plus FSC according to their website. Every little bit matters when you're running for peanuts!
Being it's reefer also factor in miles and time lost going for trailer wash outs.
When I pulled a Reefer (company driver) I would have to call up and demand my miles going to get a wash out be added onto my trip (when out of route) which they would when I would beach them out. However still sometimes I lost 1-2-3 hours for a washout with the lines which sometimes can be terrible.
All I'm saying is there's no money at all in the mileage lease programs and you get screwed left and right.

I'm not even booked for today, still waiting for something half decent for me to do.
Kinda screwed myself over setting high standards for myself and being picky.
I was real lucky Tues-Weds-Thurs grossing nearly $2700 on 1120 miles, it took 6 loads including a multistop all in the Northeast to pull that off though. No delays, trailers moves... nothing.. All smooth sailing.
Now my luck ran out. Things look so bad now the most attractive thing for me to do at this point is going to Ohio for $0.90 lol
Overall I will state things are the most difficult they ever have been with loads/rates and it's not even close.
Now is not a good time to be coming over here, I mean yeah it's still better than Stevens and etc lol but trucking in general sucks right now.
It's been tough for me overall and I've studied this crap for the past year so noobies coming in now have competition in us whom been here a bit all now fighting each other in worse market conditions.
Well gotta be real though and say I set high standards so when I say it's been tough I mean it's been tough to reach those standards. It's almost as if I'm now going to have to lower my standards/expectations in the way I run. Things just suck right now man!
My friend at Landstar is struggling, he's been running at between $1.30-$1.40 and says even that's been tough to pull off and he gets the joy of calling brokers for loads and pretty much all live load/unloads.

Yeah FW I hear ya man, I did very well last week. One of my best but I stayed booked ahead and running lanes that SUCK. it was worth it though, however this week...running the same exact lanes I was last, it's nothing but ####. I mean ####. It's probably worse then ####. Considering I don't make any money at .90 and the majority of the loads are .70-1.15 that meet my required dates, it's awful. I've got a good load I'm on now, and nothing after this. And it's Friday, I'm not running this area for anything under 1.60. If nothing pops up #### it. I'll wait. It is very tough out here, and I would hate to be a new guy trying to stay alive in this current market. What is so scary is that this isn't even the slow months yet, it's bad now I don't wanna know how bad it's gonna be come January February, man.....alls I can say is I'm happy I started saving back in March when I started with sni choice so I'm prepared for a situation like this, and I got literally my phone bill and that's it. So I'll stay truckin away at this.

All I can say is COME ON ICE, SNOW and blizzards!!!!! Scare some drivers down south and back up some freight!
I actually did great last winter, Northeast was overflowing with loads and $$$ buddy! Although you needed a snow plow attached to your bumper to dig out your loaded trailer lmao

I have never seen anything this bad, I might actually choose to sit today it's that bad and I never had to do that before. Glad I had a good week leading up to now....
Lets hope there's just a glitch in the Matrix and things pick up back soon.

LoL this is why I chose now to come over, Start out when things are bad and will get worse before they get better, this is the same reason I took a 1 year deal instead of a dropping 5k on a premium truck and a 3 year deal, Everything I have learn or thought I knew in the last 8 years just went out the window, This is a whole new game any screw ups and the only person I have to blame is the Driver or Dispatcher both of which are me. This time next year we will know who is going to be in the White House ( Barring another CHAD incident ) and should have an idea of what the economy is going to do.

Freight is just awful right now. Positioned myself to get loads that I run on a regular basis, these loads ship every week, but not this week. Its just all around bad.

Doesn't help that CS puts absolutely ridiculous pick up windows on loads when the customer doesn't have appointment times. Makes it close to impossible to put trips together in a slow market.
