So I've got a confession to make.
About two weeks ago I tested the waters seeing what else is out there, when Schneider pisses me off I get motivated to look around.
While things are worse here, it's a lot worse everywhere. Money ain't out there.
    I'll give one example...
I called Interstate Distributor company, they somewhat copied Schneider and created their own program on % and picking your own loads.
Got the run down yada yada and the recruiter appeared very interested in me because I've already been on a similar program for a year now.
Anyways they wanted me to apply..
I said I need to see kind of operation you offer. Can you send me screenshots of so and so markets of your load board. I got a yes, gave recruiter my email but then was pressured to apply again.
I said look this is the kind of money I'm earning now and how I run, I'm not going anywhere unless I have proof I can do better elsewhere, if I see I can earn more there then I'll gladly apply.
Recruiter's tone changed and the conversation ended shortly after that.
So time went by.. no emails of screenshots.. no calls from the recruiter checking in.. nothing.
Well that's a sign for me.
Also talked to a Prime driver that works in the midwest and even though they pull a reefer and get a higher % they are running at a cheaper rate and earning less than me. Not the first time I've seen Prime get raped on rates.
    I'm learning % don't mean crap unless you're getting % of a good rate.
What good is 90% if it's cheap freight or something that's been triple brokered.
Long story short, I'm willing to bring this truck I'm paying for elsewhere if I see I can earn a significant amount more elsewhere BUT so far that doesn't exist.
I can still earn well staying in the same old lanes but the BS here.. crap trailers and careless customer service really pisses me off sometimes.
No job is perfect but at least so far I think this is the best for me compared to everywhere else.
Sometimes it's good to look around and see how worse everything is, it certainly helped me gain a greater appreciation of where I'm at.

    exactly but dry!
I don't mind the cold, I just don't wanna be on snow and ice with Fedrex and Swift sliding around me.

when people talk about Interstate, I want to ask them, "when was the last time, or first time for that matter, that you saw one of their trailers spotted at a DC?"
I've also come to find that 75% of my problems are self inflicted. Almost picked a load coming out of Atlanta going to Houston. Says drop and hook on both ends.......I was going to pick it when I noticed that the 'drop' on the other end was for a hard 1900-1900 on Thursday, which tells me 2 things. Thing #1, it's not a drop it's a live unload. And Thing #2, it's most likely a grocery store warehouse. There was a time when I would have picked it and 'hoped' it was a mistake.
Hopefully, we all get a bit wiser as the days and weeks roll by. And as far as Schneider goes, I try not to let the odd CS person who clearly should not be in "customer service" or the jacked up trailer set the tone. I am encouraged by the mostly really decent people who try to help. Yeah, Schneider has it's faults, but I still have not seen anything better (for me, anyway).

Nothing wrong with testing the waters wipper.
I did the same thing and decided to stay put..no other company can offer what we have here.
Some come close but that wont cut it.

Come spring I will be looking to make a change or get my own authority.
Seems the best step for me.
