Just my opinion about Landstar....
I haven't been impressed by numbers I've heard from Landstar drivers.
Plus using their trailers you're at 65%, same as here BUT instead of working with a lot of mega carrier contract freight you're dealing with agents and more spot market.
Here Schneider does the legwork getting loads for you to pick from and negotiating rates, at Landstar you're the one doing the work dealing with agents all the while still giving up 35% (plus paying for tolls)
If you get your trailer while you get a little better % you can kiss goodbye any drop and hooks vs here you can pile them on.
We get more value as an IC here. Lots of predictable set rate customer freight, working with a huge trailer pool with lots of drop and hooks, many OCs and drop lots which helps finding places to park and shower and the list goes on.
Landstar isn't all that great but is good for taking the next forward towards gaining more experience to become more independent if that's what someone wants.
Picking my own freight baby! My journey to & of being on Schneider choice, the Adventure & Numbers!

If anyone leaves here to go to another carrier to pull Van your just a dog chasing it's own tail. It's no point lol
drvrtech77 Thanks this. -
But flatbed sucks right now.. Rates have tanked to the point it's not worth the extra work

I'd better get $4+ a mile for breaking my back slinging chains and messing with frozen ice tarps while hoping I don't get blown off the skateboard while securing or the load doesn't fall on my head when I brake lol.CaptainDaveG Thanks this. -
But if you are getting detention (which is a joke here) I'll take a live load/unload any day over a drop and hook that dosent have empties and then I'm bobtailing in the wrong direction for 49.99999999 miles for free.Pork Chop Express, redoctober83, rickybobby and 3 others Thank this. -
I know nothing about the guy except I saw some of his videos..
Good luck on your choice, whatever that may be...Scott72 Thanks this.
