Great video. Calling for every single load would definitely be a pain. Especially if you make 10 calls and end up with nothing.

Really???? Quick question.......which is more......3,000 IC's at Schneider and 5,000 company drivers......or 500 brokers with 500 drivers per? Obviously, I have no idea on the real numbers, but my point is this, when a load posts on the Schneider board, it's for Schneider drivers and contractors (until it gets too late and they move it to an open board.). Whereas, the LS board is a higleypigly of odd agents and brokers who are making their services available to almost anyone with a truck........and that's a whole lotta folks.

To find out the real story....

Get in contact with whatever drivers are with whatever company.
Ask to SEE loads they've done and rates they've been getting.
Only reason I'm here still is because I've done that and I see I'm doing better than others elsewhere.
If there's someplace where the big money is at, show me the proof and I'll drop Schneider and come along :)

Enjoy this thread, its interesting to hear about another side. Ive been at LS for 1.5 yrs and I can tell you its about building relationships. I dont even use the load board anymore . Agents call and text me. For a while now ive been doing the same 2 loads every week. Thursday to Monday. Out, and back to the house in Florida. I do wish we had the point and click, load is yours like you guys have.

See that would be where I would excel. I'm a pretty good people person and am good at building relationships. I'd see it as a challenge. A way to keep the job interesting. If you've only been there for a year and a half and you already don't need the board, that's a good sign.

Sounds good. But what kind of rate per mile are you averaging (all miles)?

yup that's what I've heard, the board is the leftover board.
    Gotta have those connections built.
Though I love my point and click loads it would be nice to have a working relationship with someone and not just be a driver number.

yeah I've been to Texas once, never again.
I can't figure that market out, either that or there's just better money in the midwest and Northeast

My rpm is pretty sad considering this roundtrip is 1500 miles loaded and 900 deadhead(im in south Florida). I refuse to take sub $1.00 freight out of Florida even though i know its not a good business decision. The rate is good enough on the 2 loads though that i can keep around $2500 after fuel, pretax. My fuel cost is under .20 cpm, we get excellent discounts. No truck payment. Im only doing this during the winter to keep out of most of the bad weather. I skipped the loads this week as im under no obligation, and glad i did, i would of been stuck in KY in that storm. During produce season i will switch it up and eliminate almost all the deadhead as melons and taters ship from my town.
