As a company driver yeah what your experience has been imakes complete sense being paid cpm. However if you take the time to read through all of these IC threads listen objectively to what they're telling you, you will find that the shorter runs are to your benefit

Actually, I kinda like a mix......I'll do both.....all depends on where it goes and what it pays. But truthfully, with the rates like they are right now, if you don't do a few short ones during the week, you're not gonna be real happy with your rate per mile average. Despite the crappy rates, I still can roll $1.50++ average for the week (chump change for sadwar.....I get it......but for us solar powered snow birds, it ain't bad).

I do occasionally take a longer run, when I need to take a breath and see something different. But only if I'm prepared for a very low settlement.

I've seen people with bikes in the back of their truck.
Also met one schneider driver that keeps a bike inside their sleeper mounted where the top bunk would be.

I'll put it this way...if you think running high miles over here in choice will make you $$, you're in for a rude awakening... If that's your mindset, then you've already failed...as a choice ic,you want to to run as least amount of miles for the maximum $$...if you think otherwise, then I wouldn't bother coming over because you won't make it...this is the #1reason Why many fail .

The way I like to put it is to make the most money here you have to to everything you hated to do as a company driver.
The more you will hate the load the better it will pay generally lol. True story.

I bet you were hoping nobody else booked it before you could hit that assign button.

Or you could look for one like I saw yesterday, 66,078 lb of who knows what.

I'll have you know I just spent three weeks outside of the NE and I averaged right at $1.50 all miles. And I was happy to get it...

Life ain't all peaches and cream in the NE right now, too few loads and too many IC's. And I know for a fact that company drivers are now taking loads that IC's used to run. I understand why, but it still burns...

I'm happy right now clearing $1000 a week. Less stress..

But I am pursuing other career opportunities outside of trucking...

    Roll on....
