Not trying to take sides but there are a lot of O/O's running Pete 389 gliders with kitty cats roaring down the road at 70 mph out west getting 6 mpg or less and still making bank, how? They set their rates based on the quick turnaround on freight.
Everyone's business model is different, I'm still a company driver and due to the bonus I get I watch my speed to max out my payout. Now if I were to be able to get a percentage of the loads value then I'd want to book as much profitable freight as I could - preferably with low miles at which point I'd certainly run faster to book the revenue.
So long as your revenue is exceeding the costs you will cover the expense of running harder. Heck, do well enough and rebuild the tranny and motor if need be, just keep your operation in the black.Dominick253, TennMan and freightwipper Thank this. -
