I don't miss Walmart. An hour late and they don't even want their freight anymore

No i dont miss reefer but rates could be nice ;)
Then again i don't know if it would be worth the endless amounts of waiting.

Well, at another cold storage this morning. Been in the door for over an hour and still haven't touched my trailer...stay with dry van, unless you do reefer and establish your own detention rate. I would want to get $100/hr after 2 hours as an O/O to make it worth it compared to those sweet drop and hooks you have going there;)

Omg you'd clean up in detention pay doing reefer.
As a company driver it sucked though.

Yeah, except idk how many would pay it lol. Been looking at Choice since before I started driving...honestly like the company I am currently with, but sick of reefer! That and the fact that getting detention is like pulling teeth. From reading these posts on Choice for the last couple years, Schneider looks like they definitely have their share of BS, but the ability to choose loads/freight lanes and a huge pool of D/H freight has made me take the next step at looking into coming over.

I left reefer before coming here, i feel your pain.
2am appointments and you don't get unloaded till sunrise :biggrin_25510:

Now I'm dont really talk to anybody. I create my own Schedule and pick whatever loads i want, go where i want. Lots of open window appointments and drop/hooks with having OCs and drop lots all over. Makes for a real easy, less stressful lifestyle in many ways vs working elsewhere as a driver. Not it's not perfect but no job is.
If i ever got more greedy i'd look into flatbed but currently I'm enjoying this lifestyle.

Yup, going on 3 hours in the door and still nothing!
From reading it sounds like the one major problem with Choice is the condition of the trailers...what is usually wrong with them? Is it lack of maintenance or drivers damaging them and not reporting?? How do you deal with it if you get to a shipper for a preload and the trailer doesn't pass the pretrip? Are ICs compensated for downtime due to lost time having trailers repaired?

Heres the story... Schneider has a ton of trailers and they are buying a lot of news ones BUT problem is there's still a lot of crappy 10+ year old trailers in the pool.
When i can i AVOID them like the plague but when a shipper preloads in one of them that you booked then you're stuck.
Most of them are just beat up, rusted and look like they went through hell and back but they do have problems at times which can be anything.
How you handle it and every situation is different. If it's in really bad shape i call them and tell them to pull me off the load because the trailer is not safe for me to pull anywhere.
They will get mad and try to make you take it somewhere to get fixed but i just whip out they're own "safety first, safety first" crap and drop that on Schneider's face... then they have no choice by to pull me off the load lol :king:

Safety is usually the keyword that gets things done with any good trucking company! Lol.
