It is sad in a way that those loads aren't on the same board because sometime the rates to go in Canada are excellent!!!
I can't say the same about going in the US i have seen bottom of the barrel rates...but with research and lil bit of luck there is always good rates to go anywhere.... -
My guess is sometime the rates going Canada might be really good but instead of posting those loads on US board they give them to canadian driver IC or not at cheaper rates because canadian can't do interstate and that way they could keep a bigger chunk of change out of those loads?!?
Am i making sense? -
I've been to Canada as a company driver.
U.S drivers that go into Canada can only pick up loads directly back to U.S.Blackhawk driver Thanks this. -
I think what RT express is trying to say, is that if you don't buy enough fuel in Pa to cover all the miles you run there, you will end up paying appx 10 cents per mile IFTA tax based upon average reported fuel mileage of 6.5 mpg. If you buy more than you need you will have 10 cpm credited back to you to pay other states where you didn't buy enough, and since the net cost of fuel after tax is cheaper in Pa, you could come out ahead in the long run by paying more in the short term if fuel is purchased wisely.
I could be wrong, but I believe that is what he is saying. The reason some owners end up paying hundreds of dollars in fuel taxes every quarter is they are making up for not buying enough fuel in high price state. If the price is high and the tax portion of that fuel is low, it's not so bad, but if the taxes make up a larger portion of the total cost than other states, it's actually cheaper to buy the higher priced fuel many times.
The whole IFTA thing is hard to explain, but can bite you in the butt to the point of quartely taxes costing more than the amount of fuel money saved by buying cheaper fuel if a person doesn't look at tax rates and miles ran. I would have thought a big company like Schneider would pay fuel taxes plus give a big fuel discount like Mercer does.gentleroger and HeWhoMustNotBeNamed Thank this.
