Me too...
If you dont beach 24/7 then you're a "cheerleader" lol.
Yeah i beach sometimes but as long as i dont have to haul cheeep freight then overall I'm good.
Having to haul cheap freight makes me more mad than anything x100!

It started when they allowed the flood of ICs to come in, turning what was a great program into a good program.
Then the new contract comes along and box went absolutely bat#### crazy.
SNI is doing everything they can to pass their costs onto ICs, so yeah those of us that see it are a bit annoyed.
But.... @freightwipper like you say, show me a better option. Problem is Schneider knows this as well.
What they may or may not know is how close they are to a huge lawsuit.
I think they have let short term money grabbing cloud their vision. It wouldn't surprise me if Schneider's doors are closed in 10 yrs if they don't make some changes.redoctober83 Thanks this. -
Farm 2 Fleet pays 80%
There is another one I came across that pays 85%, you're set up with your own trailer, deal with brokers or create direct contacts with customers. I need to go look through my notes again for the name but they are large carrier. -
Then freight market tanked and less loads.
I could imagine it would be hard to know exactly when will be good or terrible. So Schneider was bring people on when freight was good.. then when freight sucked there wasnt enough freight for everybody. Now no more referrals, limiting hiring etc to try to balance things again.
Supposedly Schneider wanted to have enough ICs and company drivers so they didn't have to brokered out lots of their freight to 3rd party carriers.
I can't really get mad at Schneider for wanting to have enough drivers to haul their freight but then freight market tanked, that's not Schneider's fault.
Main things i wish they would change to make it to where someone needs more experience to become an IC here. That plus stop being cheap and get rid of the old pos trailers and hire more people to answer the phones.
Then you have trailer costs and no more drop and hook freight. Drop and hook usually means less time at customers, less free time giving away is always a good thing.
Yeah sometimes you need to go looking for a trailer but it's very rare for me. Better than waiting forever for live load/unloads more often.
Then factor in tolls in the Northeast and Chicagoland, take that off that 80% also.. plus trailer fees, etc etc. Also then you lose the advantage of all the drop lots and OCs we can park at.
Once you start adding all those negatives up.. a place like FarmtoFleet aint that attractive.
What would be attractive to me is leasing onto a carrier that has their own direct customers.. rarely uses brokers, pays % and i know has a strong solid freight base and great rates to work in. That carrier will show me in writing their customers and the great rates i would be getting.
When i find something like that then it would be worth me leaving.
All these other places are either crappy mileage pay or % but dealing with all mostly spot market, brokers trying to screw you, paying for trailer, tolls, all live load/unloads, no more parking all over etc etc. There's lots of lots of threads about shady brokers, brokers lying and trying to screw drivers etc etc.. leaving here to deal with brokers opens up that world to you which certainly doesn't sound fun.
Until i see in writing a carrier with strong freight with direct customers with great rates, then consider leaving. All these other places i see so far are just ehhhh at best.Last edited: Apr 14, 2016

You keep asking to see lists of customers before you go and the rates. Are you really that crazy? No company is going to show you the customer and rates, that would make it to easy for you or whoever to go to those customers and offer them less or something different.
Farm 2 Fleet is about you getting your own customers. The current drivers there for q1 of this year averaged $1.98/mile on the loads they booked.
You may be special in not having trailer issues or going on searches or you may just say hey it's not my trailer I'll leave the bald flat tires for someone else to deal with since it's a short hop. Drop and hooks aren't everything in this industry. Many times even here at schnieder I've done live loads/unloads and it's been a quick in and out process almost as fast as doing a drop and hook. The last long wait I had on a live load/unload was pulling reefer.
If I do live load/unload I make sure I'm getting paid for the time as well. The revenue has to be right for me to book that. With farm 2 fleet in negotiating my rates with customers and brokers not just taking what's put in the board and that's it.
Then of course you have a place like roadrunner that offers 85 % and paper logs. Again that's more money in my pocket even after trailer rental fee. I'm in control of my trailer and don't have to worry about some driver dropping a trailer that they mark in perfect condition and is missing the entire recap off of the casing. How's that prefect condition?
I come from a sales background and calling costumers and brokers to ask for freight doesn't bother me one bit. For an extra 15-20% more revenue I'll do the extra work and deal with live load/unload. Plus I'm negotiating the rates that means I can add a realistic detention rate and time and not this 6 hour for $50 crud schnieder has.Home_on_wheels Thanks this. -

You can always come where I work and work your ### off just to hope to make 1.30 all miles. Look, every company has warts. When it's all said and done, are you happy with your bottom line? Isn't that what really matters? Who cares what SNI scavengers from your pay, are you happy with your pay? The bottom line is what pays the bills.
exracer941 and T_TRUCKER. Thank this.
