not on a relay, no no. Even if overweight, at least I couldn't @ 3000 lbs over gross. Good luck.

This is why I don't do relays... This actually picking up a load from another driver who could care less whether it's overweight or the trailer is even Road ready all because they're just dropping the load in the yard anyway... I only pick up from shippers

As with many things in life sometimes you just have to put your foot down.
The Schenider people on the phone sounded scared of my tone and apologized many times.
I really let them have it or more so let that relay driver had it.
Going on and on how he should be fired, there's no excuse for this.
He is either very lazy or just doesn't care, probably a combination of both.
Said any professional driver that would READ that bills and see nearly 50k should notify Schneider right away and not pull it, let alone leave, not scale it and tell nobody about it.
That you learn about weights in CDL school and he should know better.
That it's a big problem he was "A" okay pulling an illegal load and pushing off the problem to the next driver.
It's a huge safety issue and that driver doesn't care about safety... la la la.
Also that when i book a relay load i expect that load to be safe and legal for pick up, that that's the relay drivers JOB to do before hand.
I also said every other time i picked up a relay load that was heavy that a scale ticket was left with the bills (which is true).
Company drivers don't pay for scale tickets, ICs do AND I found out it was a company driver that did the relay. If it was an IC i could get maybe he was being cheap but nope it was a company driver
Also said that I shouldn't be punished for another driver not doing their job.
There was a lot more I said but this post is getting long.
To be honest at that point I didn't really care about the load anymore or was thinking about getting paid anything for it. Before i called in I looked and see what was going on around me to see how badly I'd want to stay on the messed up load or not.
I saw a bunch of last moment HIGH $$$$ loads pop up that would have paid me a lot more than the loads i had preassigned.
Sooo I figured I'd use to messed up load as the excuse to have all my loads pulled lol.
Might sound bad but hey the load was messed up anyway, i just wanted them pulled quickly before i got beat to those hot loads lmao.
Anyways sooo my ICA said that they could pull the loads just like that BUT if they did that I wouldn't get paid for the load.
I asked what do you mean, as in a VNU?
"Yes", was the answer.
I was told if i went through the "process" with cargo claims and scaled the load to verify it's overweight that I would be compensated being the pervious driver messed up.
I asked are you sure? Because I'm not going to be dealing with this messed up load any longer and now pay for a scale unless I'd be compensated.
They verified it.. so I played along.
Anyways long story short.....
If you show up like you CARE, want to be safe, do the right thing and put your foot down at times.. Schnieder will respect you in return (most of the time)
Ended up getting my loads pulled after that and tomorrow morning i pick up a 900 mile load going to NC paying $1.80 soo I feel better now lol.
Sometimes things do work out for the better, you never know.
Only worked out cause I was in a good area. Most places as @rickybobby said if a load cancels then you're screwed.Last edited: Apr 26, 2016

I don't understand why anyone would go out of their way to get a driver fired from his job. The facts speak on their own, Schneider can come to their own conclusions.

One thing that upsets me more than anything is drivers passing along problems to another driver.. that is really messed up!
If people would just do their job the right and safe way it would eliminate a lot of problems for all of us.
I actually pushed more so not for that driver to be fired but for compensation to me to come from his paycheck because he was the one that cost me lol.
I should at least $10.50 back from that drivers check to pay for the scale he was too lazy to do himself lol.
I did get my ICA to reach the DBL of that driver while on I was hold.
Again it was a company driver and his reasoning for not saying anything about the 50k load, not scaling it and not telling anybody about it was because "well the relay point was close".
I mean really, that says it all right there.

The problem is drivers are paid by the mile.
Soooooo..
Calling in Schneider to report problems... more waiting not getting paid.
Going to a truck stop to scale... more wasted time you're not getting paid for.
And worse of all... blowing time to get trailers fixed... you don't get paid for.
That is a big problem...
If you do the right thing it costs you money.
Having drivers paid by the mile incentives them to keep the wheels going no matter what.
It sucks, it's a big problem.
Now as an IC for example if I see a screwed up preloaded trailer i generally tell Schneider to deal with the issues themselves and to pull me off the load.
When I was a company driver I didn't have that power and would have to make the choice of being safe/do the right thing or make money.
When issues arise you can't have both as a company driver!
Sooooo most of the time I've noticed company drivers dont care, they just wanna keep moving no matter what.
What companies should do is pay drivers for getting scaled or when they sit waiting for trailers to be fixed etc. Just something, just a little bit for that time.
