    Opposite.

Torque for pulling, HP for speed/acceleration.

I was told the same thing, but both this Maxxforce and a couple Volvos I have driven have never proved that case, especially this Maxxforce. Anything over 1500 seems to do nothing but waste fuel

Actually it is proving the case. Higher RPM means more horsepower and less torque.

Typically with these new engines, all higher RPM does is burn fuel and make noise because the torque is at lower RPM.

I meant as far as HP for pulling hills. This engine hits max TQ in the 13-1400 range which proves that torque pulls hills, not HP

13 speed is great for these mountains, I hated 10 speed in West Virginia! Though I still hate West Virginia lol

When you say 2015, you are referring to your glider? Those old series 60 were designed for low rpm torque, and I was always instructed to pull until it drops to 1k rpms. But those always revved 2150 from the factory.

So you are saying when you order one in a glider today, they are setting the governor and recommending 1200/1900?

I was referrring to the 2015 t680 I had as as lease/purchase through Schneider.

the Series 60 I have now (Fitzgerald built), Detroit says the torque band is between 1200-1400. Not high, but a bit higher than the newest engines. According to my dyno test, I reach max torque between 1425 and 1450rpm, that is putting right at 1550 torque to the rear wheels. Torque drops below 1500 above 1550rpm and will hold the torque at 1500 down to 1275rpm..
Top horsepower is reached at 1665rpm (486 to the wheels), but torque drops down to 1465 at that rpm.

now I'm dizzy from reading and posting all those numbers, LOL.

Hey what type of truck is your glider and what do you pull if you don't mind me asking. How's your mpg? Have talked to Fitz about a 389 glider...
