They probably meant the #6 cylinder liner was damaged in some way. Whatever "gone" means to the tech that tore it down. The liner is basically a replaceable cylinder that is pressed into the engine block that the piston moves up and down in; where compression takes place. Most big diesels are built like this. Dunno much about the Paccar engines, never seen one tore down, but I would be almost certain they have wet liners, meaning the outsides of the liners are in contact with engine coolant. Wet liners have grooves cut in them where o-rings are placed to seal the crankcase off from coolant.

Pretty major failure for an engine with low miles on it. Even on high-mileage engines liner failures are usually in the form of pinholes in the liners that allow coolant to weep into the combustion chamber.
