Sometimes it's actually the other way around. Vans get some of the leftover flat freight. Often the vans get a lower rate then the flats do. But it really depends, the way you described it is possible I suppose. In general it takes longer to load/unload a van so depending on the product customers may prefer flats. Too many variables to give an exact answer. Could be company drivers working at .50¢ a mile.....freightwipper Thanks this.

Probably a flatbed load stuck in your trailer, since its 2 to 1.
And we don't know the actual rate. Customer could be paying $10/mi to the carrier while you're getting $2 and thinking its great. -
lol this is true

All qualcomm messages are routed to the operations team in green bay, then someone in ops forwards the message to your ica/ICR. Now if your ICA/ICR has the widow open for the qualcomm system and are a new message indicator, then they'll respond quickly, otherwise I've sent messages and it took over an hour before a response. Even when I reply back to there message, they take over an hour to respond. As far as I'm concerned the qualcomm is only a one way communication device so they can yell at is when they think we did something wrong.freightwipper and TennMan Thank this.

Some freight can go on both a flat or a van. Normally it pays the same except for a small tarp charge of 50 bucks if needed. I've done this on a filler load or a backhaul.freightwipper Thanks this.

That's why the Freightliners are spec'ed like the company trucks, so that they can be rotated into the company fleet in case they get turned in early.

The load board looks different lately with the holiday coming up. The company drivers are taking time off and a lot of loads that never make it to the board anymore are suddenly showing back up. Loads I haven't seen in years.
