Mack and Volvo same drive train.

 

153,750 miles. My steer tire issues are a memory thanks to Bridgestone. 50k on these steers and they look new. So long, Goodyear. The drives are next...probably have to do 4 at a time.

Only other complaint I've got is the cheapazz IdleFree system. My cooling fan keeps shorting out, and the system is useless anyway if it's much over 78 degrees. So I've concentrated on pulling lighter loads to offset my fuel usage while idling. It works OK for the most part. I carry a big box fan to use after the sun goes down, and that helps some.

Truck has yet to leave me stranded, so...knock wood....

 

How would one tell?

No problems with either of my DD15's, but I drive them like they're made of glass too. Not sure if that helps or not, but so far so good. Never idle either. KR claims emission trucks are around 20 cents maint, but mine was 4 last year. They don't all kill you.

 

No there not...... The MP8 and D13 do NOT like idling. This truck is due for it's third camshaft.

I work with a guy who's getting ready to buy his third DD15 in a row. He's had very few problems and he runs hard.

 

I should of mentioned I have 800,000 on it and over 26,600 hours.

 

How can truck maintenance only be 4 cpm? Tires alone are half that. I do all my own work so never pay a single dollar for labor and so my cpm for maintenance is well over 4.
