Not to mention we invest 100k in equipment that breaks down causing us to make nothing. I'd say we have just as much skin in the game as teachers, and probably more.redoctober83 Thanks this.

Really I mean because we help shape our kids futures? Yes keeping products moving is important and we are valuable members of society, but what teachers do is a bit harder than driving a truck.
I have coached in high school, I'm much happier behind the wheel... -
That's debatable when you consider all the time we spend away from home and family. Living in a tiny truck is a bit harder than weekends and summers off. Not saying teaching isn't hard and under appreciated, but so is trucking.

One bad crash and our career is over or worse our life is over.
Speaking of easy? Winter time driving with snow and ice aint easy!
It's also not easy being away from our families for long peroids of times for a lot of drivers.
When you take into count everything and most of all that our job can kill us... we are underpaid.CaptainDaveG Thanks this. -
FW I think what he's trying to explain is yes teachers make more salary today than they did then but if you take into account for inflation $56,000 is in Jack s*** nowadays it really doesn't count for much he is correct inflation and the excessive printing of money has devalued the dollar to the point it's nearly worthless causing more money to be spent on things now they never used to bespyder7723 Thanks this.

I can tell you right now teachers don't teach nothing to kids in class anymore the only thing these schools do anymore it's do all year prep for standardized test conducted by the states.... Other than that they don't teach him jack Squad look at the the lack of intelligence coming out of schools these daysPoleCrusher Thanks this.

I'm a capitalist at heart. Therefore I believe we are paid correctly. Supply and demand dictate labor costs. The problem is, we chose to get in to a low skill career with almost no entry requirements. So the supply side is over flowing. Therefore wages will never be very high.
A way to combat that is differentiate yourself from the pack. Get into something more specialized than typical dry van goods. Basically find a segment where the supply side is not over flowing the demand bucket.CJndaTruck, mike3fan, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -
Lol, having done both teaching is a lot harder than driving in the snow...try it, lots of the life's lessons learned on the road would help youth...just love getting truckers going on a topic. Ya'll be safe and make some money!
