At my high school in suburban Chicago an idiot physical education teacher that I could never stand makes $135,000 per year plus another $20,000 in fringe benefits. The job is a cakewalk and the guy is a terrible coach.

There are way too many worthless teachers out there to even begin to say that's a harder job. It's a harder job only if you choose to go there extra miles to make it harder and most are a bunch of slackers

I've meant the entire Chicago metro area, not only CPS.
It is outrageous how well are compensated the public employees
on the back of the others.
Add the constant corruption, BS, etc, and I don't understand why
somebody who doesn't directly benefits from that still lives there.
BTW, New Jersey is the same.

Wow man, you know there are a few overpaid useless truckers out here to...Chicago as a whole is a corrupt town where graft is pretty much everywhere. The union there definitely needs to be reformed.

Believe me I would love it if my wife made that kind of money, I'd have my own truck (daycab) and be driving local if that were the case. And to get where that jerk coach was, he kissed a lot of you know what and played the union game...most good teachers can't put up with that crap.

Way back when I first started I drove for Swift. We had a joke going that in order to get hired there, you had to pass the mirror test. What's the mirror test? Simple, when you get to orientation, they hold a mirror under your nose. If it fogs up, you're hired.

There was a time not too long ago when truck drivers were paid extremely well and were treated with a lot of respect. Then again you would never see a driver walking around in Pajama's and flip flops either. Just saying. Drives me nuts.

Was that the time b4 of after drivers were popping pills like they were going out of style, and running 3 log books?? Must have been in the days b4 my 19 years. When I started out at 20cpm. Heck some of the expierenced produce haulers with the large cars were making 16 to 18. Gota love the good ol day stories. That just don't add up.

Stopped at a rest area last week stepped out of my truck right onto a plastic bag full of ####. Was it really to much work for the driver to walk 50 feet to the trash can. Good thing I didn't have my flip flops on. But I digress.

Yeah the good ole days were back in the 70's...its been a long time since trucking was looked at as a solid middle wage job, but as with all things that depends on where you live and how much you need to live on, $60K a year can work for many people especially if their partner is earning the same.
