He said there should be a min rate for hauls and a cap on what % brokers can take off loads.

I think @Constant Learner is messaging us from....

I have a blue Volvo and would never haul for that..just saying not all of us Volvo owners are Slavic.

So much hate on us poor track suit wearing Volvo drivers..why?
    Why I say?!

At this point if he doesn't understand supply & demand, I'm certainly not going to try and explain the concept.

There are no experts here..most of us work for SNI.
So we have no concept of how the real world works.
Big Orange sets the rate and we run it..period.

All this speculating and that's all it is..is pointless.
Sure nothing wrong with learning a few things..after all reading is fundamental.

Some of us spend way too much time regurgitating this crap and trying to look like they know what they're talking about..me included.

    Give it a break..

    I've already made few points.
Like any decent game, we need fair rules( regulations) and fair referee( government). Also we need somebody to speek and fight on our behalf. That would be a nationwide professional drivers union. Otherwise we have the current situation.
2008 and Wall Street is another good example why we need regulations and protection.

(I already know the answer and what you said is not a true statement. Just trying to get you to seriously think about that comment.)

Do you realize what you just described is a little concept called Fascism? So you want the U.S. to be a Fascist nation? (Economic interventionism is one of the hallmarks)

    Interesting.

What did I say that wasn't true? Higher oil prices put trucks back in the oil field, which lowers capacity.

Lol this is the first post in a while that makes sense to me...I don't run for Schneider (thank god, I couldnt deal with the trailer issues you poor bastids deal with, WAY too lazy) but I HAD to throw my 2 pennies in. I find all my own loads and have a mix of contract frieght, direct from the shipper spot loads, and broker loads. From what I'm given to understand by readin this thread and a few others, you guys haul off schneiders board for whatever rate that load pays. That's basically what I do when I'm covering a contract load. It is what it is, there's no evil lord Vader lurking in the middle pickin off cash. The price is what it was when the contract was negotiated. The only thing that changes in that rate is the fsc. The direct shipper loads are the best/worst ones tho. All this year I've been haulin loads that I hauled in the past, with recent rates not even coming close to previous. See, here's the thing, and basically the point of my post...shippers read DAT and ITS and all the other industry stuff regarding rates. In many cases it's THEM that kill a previously cherry load. I have several shippers that I had a great relationship with in the past that I refuse to carry for any longer...the reduction in rates is absurd. For example, moultrie ga to Chicago il in the past paid me north of 3k. My last load there paid me 1575. And there was 20+ trucks at the warehouse ready to haul for that rate. (I gooched myself on that cuz I didn't know the rate til I was already halfway to Chicago, my dealings in the past having assured me a good rate.) it's a messed up deal, but commonplace in truckin these days.

Now I ain't sayin brokers don't sometimes hose us. But in my experience actually hauling 35-40% brokered loads, I RARELY deal with a jack hole outfit. There's a lotta horror stories, I have a few myself, but honestly I don't mind brokered loads. Even TQL loads. I have a rate, and as long as I'm hittin the rate I need in that particular lane I ain't too concerned bout what the broker makes. I'm too small to make a difference in how they do business, and I freakin HATE drivin around all peed off and plottin system overthrow.

Sorry for hijackin the thread. I like this thread cuz you guys are fun to listen to and I get some good pointers from you guys. Just wAnted to share my perspective.
