What I would like to see but would never happen is NO MORE MIDDLE MEN!
We live in an age with lots of technology, heck taxi drivers are nearly obsolete thanks to things like Uber.

I would like to see tech that connects to the drivers to the loads from shippers with no brokers.
Add in that if a truck books and cancels without 24+ hour notice, the truck gets fined.
If a load cancels without 24+ hour notice, then shipper gets fined and that money goes to the driver.

Blah blah thats all fantasy though, we're gonna be stuck with brokers taking huge crunks out of the rate and drivers willing to working for peanuts. Nothing is going to change.

    Uber is the middleman!!

If you think about it the only way to eliminate the middleman is to do shipper direct trucking aka walmart but even they broker out loads.

Even during the best of times as far as capacity to freight volumes go these trucking megas always scream about a driver shortage. They just forget to mention they mean a CHEAP driver shortage.

There's no slow down in freight per se it's these companies are changing the way they ship.

Used to be a big summer leading towards back to school now they pre load and megas store close to the delivery through out the year and then it's short hauls during rush season.

Fall was some of the best markets but the bean counters figured out how to keep more of the profit by staging closer to final delivery with company trucks and then manipulating the rate for the NEW lane it originates in.

The only way to beat the system is to not be part of it but we're to poor to get out of it.

Uber is a service like a taxi but cheaper and more efficient.
Thats all I was getting at there.

By middleman I meant like brokers keep half the rate for themselves.
Just think of a freight app where all shippers post their loads at their rate and the app keeps a small %, I think that would be pretty cool.
    Would never happen though.

The reason Uber is cheaper is they don't have to follow the same regulations as taxi companies. Gypsy cabs in New York and Chicago have been doing it for decades but if they get caught there are stiff penalties. Uber just threw a cloak of legal acceptability over the idea and added some technology. Think about hot showers who run withe Uship. Think they're all following DOT regulations and HOS?

If Uber and Lyft had to follow the same regulations as livery drivers they wouldn't have gotten off the ground. There are successful Uber drivers just like there are successful Lease/fleece drivers. Too many are working to break even though.

I take Uber a lot, many arent full time.. just do it they are bored and have free time lol.
I got picked up in a Lexus suv by this mom type in Knoxville that told me shes doing soo well she quit her full time job just to Uber.
Anyways point being its just basically an app.
Just think of removing brokers to get freight on an app, man that would be cool!

Fw that tech has been there for a couple decades. While not an app version, it's basically the same thing. Public load boards such as Internet truck stop and get loaded since at least the late 90s. And yet shippers still use brokerage firms and large carriers who broker out what they can't cover.

    Brokers just suck.
What "they" can't cover is usually crap freight.

IMO brokers aren't the main drivers of low rates. It's L/O and 1099 carriers. If a company can cut payroll costs by 15% then they can cut their freight rate by 10% and still come out ahead. The driver is the one getting screwed with their pants on.

Ummm no we dont really deal with or speak to anybody, just horrible customer service sometimes.
Remember it's all point/click loads and most loads are Schneider direct customers and contract freight. Had a few CR Robbingson loads lately though.
One of them was a relay that was over 80k I beached about a bit ago.
