You're married, you'll never be the boss. If your wife is unavailable your daughter is next in line. If you daughter is unavailable,m then the dog, if not the dog, then the goldfish. If the goldfish is unavailable and you are forced to make a decision it will be non-binding until ratified by one of the aforementioned parties.

Yep, no shrinking violet here. Here's a couple more bold statements:
"The only true commodity is labor. All other commodities are only valued in the labor they can command" Adam Smith, Wealth of Nations

"The worker is the most critical component of any shop, for they understand the work and are able to devise invocations to that will benifit capitol" paraphrase of Adam Smith.

    "Worker of the world unite!"

Then you are the slave of government regulations, state regulations, county where you live regulations, town you live in, ect, ect... You do pay property taxes on you your home and vehicles don't you? Then you are a slave to them, for if you don't pay, they will take your vehicles and land from you. Don't follow government or state regulations in trucking, you pay the price, which could include seizure of your truck. Don't deliver your load the way the shipper wants, you don't get paid, and get no more loads from them. You are never your own boss. Heck, even the president is not the boss. He can be impeached at any time. There are a few cruel dictators that appear to be the boss, but who knows who is blackmailing them.

Being the boss is not what it's cracked up to be. It's easy to say what you would do different when you are not calling the shots. The bosses decision not only affects the workers, but his life, and the life of the company. The worker never knows everything that is going on behind the scenes. Besides owning my own trucks most of my driving career, I have owned different businesses which employed people. Sometimes you have to be an ### to be boss, fact.

We are all slaves, and the more smaller companies that fail or get taken over by huge companies, the more of a slave we become. In my lifetime I have seen it where most anyone could start their own business and succeed, to the point it is almost impossible to start, much less succeed, in a small business. Most everything a small business can do has been taken over by major corporations. In reality, in each sector of business, there are only a very few corporations that control most aspects of that area. Trucking is mostly that way, and within one or two decades, there will be the three or four big players that own all the smaller trucking companies.

If you don't believe that, go to the grocery store. Look at all the brands on the shelves, then go home and research who actually owns those brands.

Face it, you hate everything that revolves around people independently making a way for themselves.

Ah bit harsh to say we're all slaves, your outlook leads one to think that only anarchy provides freedom

There is no TRUE freedom on this earth. We all answer to someone. It can be called slavery, or many other terms, citizen, employee, or business owner, and the results are the same.

Constant Learner is exactly right about Uber and their tactics. It sounds like he worked for them and so did I. I also worked six months in San Francisco for SideCar, who along with Lyft began ride sharing. Uber jumped in with UberX and quickly dominated because they had over 100 engineers and the data. Google invested a quarter BILLION dollars in one shot.

After getting to scale they lowered fares to the point where the cheapest ride one night in Santa Monica was 3 dollars. Your own car, you pay everything, risk accidents, tickets, drunks, fights, all to pick up a partying hipster and take them a few blocks for 3 dollars. Independently making a way my arse.

The technology is efficient and here to stay. I say that as a former taxi driver for years on both coasts. These young rich startups might claim to be saving the world, but they are just as cut throat and money hungry as any other corporation, and the workers are their last concern.

Look at Zuckerberg. His business started out as a social network program. Now he has invaded every users privacy in order to make himself richer, as if he could spend all the money he has in his lifetime now, but he's after more. According to many people, the Facebook app can even listen to you when you're not using Facebook.

Mining data is the number one business of Facebook, the younger people know this, and still don't seem to care about their privacy.

I will say that of all the billionaires I have personally met, Bobby Murphy, the co-founder of SnapChat, was the coolest. He was about 23 at the time, and I drove him and two other kids to an electronic music concert in downtown L.A.

We both lived in Venice, and he asked my name and then invited me to stop in and see him anytime at their new digs on the beach. Total gentleman.

But yeah, FB is evil. I read that 97% of users say "OK" to uploadlng all their contacts.
