Not to mention alot of drivers don't understand the business side. Most trucking company charges well over .90 cts a mile to the shipper if it's direct contract or spot bid. Imagine the look on their face if one found out the trucking company billed a shipper $2.90 a mile on a van load of 35000 lbs of non-hazmat prepackaged material out of NJ to Indy under a contracted rate that all carriers with a least 150 trucks to dedicate to them are allowed to be able to be on their approved carrier list and book loads on the shipper intranet website! As you mentioned, that's one BIG reason why the trucking companies and 3pl brokers are advertising in truckstops. So many truck drivers have no idea they are flying in the dark!Winnyf1 Thanks this.

Why is freight going into the upper Midwest so cheap? I get it from the NE, but ####, even from Ohio we're talking a lousy buck a mile?
-
Because SNI floods the market with Lease drivers who are willing to take it. It then gives them the ability to lower rates knowing there's drivers willing to run it.

PoleCrusher and sicksfeet Thank this. -
Yeah and it's also one of the reasons people hate us and support many of the restrictions against us...
-
People support restrictions because they think it'll benefit them.

Many reasons... mostly the market.
First of all anything from the Northeast pays crap soo you better get your money going in.
Northearn Illinois and eastern Wisconsin are great outbound markets, plus Wisconsin produces more than it consumes sooo just like the leaving the Northeast sucks cause they don't produce crap leaving GOING into great shipping areas generally pay less.
Ohio to MN or WI never really pays anything.
I've seen west Ohio loads go to WI for $1.50-$1.70 but those are few and far between.
Plus the fact that any good load goes in .0000001 seconds after posting and the loads left on the board you're looking at are leftovers lol.
Load I'm on I got within .0000001 seconds after it posted, generally me doing an 1100 mile load to MN like yeah never happens lol.Scott72 Thanks this. -
So basically right place, right time on the board gets the nuggets huh? I just don't want to be married to this dang board. Already spent 2 hours the last couple nights looking and didn't get other crap done. Then looking on breaks too. I think I'm going to just book a full week and not look back. Lol

Y
you won't find much at night. It takes a while but you'll start seeing what to look for and when to look for it based on where you're at and where you're willing to go.Scott72 Thanks this.
