This is above my pay grade but I am starting to think sfi is a big part of the problem. In order to stay solvent they need to lease trucks. At the same time SNI has all the trucks (o/o side) they need. Conflict of interest. So the ads hit the radio, call a recruiter and their hands are tied. Only logical explanation I can come up with other than the before mentioned. Then again some times I think to much and as I said most likely above my pay scale.

Yeah I guess I get that. When I first started as a company driver they handed me the keys to a well broke in century with 850,000 miles. Needed 2 gallons of oil a week and they weren't about to put it on the lot and let it sit. Couldn't even order a glider from Fitz because they were too busy building trucks for SNI. Something has changed big time. Everyone keeps telling me all the bobtails sitting around are company trucks. They don't look like company too me. Idk. Don't doubt what you are saying, something just feels different. Alot different .

Recruiting will flat out tell you freight is in the tank and Schneider's intention is on protecting it's current ICs.
If they lease out trucks to everybody yeah they'd make more money off the leases but the program would blow up due to lack of freight.

It is blown up but it's too many drivers not lack of freight.

They let anyone with 6 months total experience if it was at Schneider lease a truck and now all those trucks are being turned in.

Whether we admit it or not Schneider saw dollar signs and opened the flood gates and ruined this program.

It's still better than most but no where near as profitable for IC's now.

I admit i am making less money.
I had multiple weeks last year where i cleared over $3500 after costs. Twice over $4,000.
This year not once have I hit $3,500

There was more and better freight back then, so Schneider brought on more noobs to cover loads.
Then freight tanked, many turned trucks in and Schneider limited hiring.
I am still doing well but this job went from being fairy easy to now I have to work for my money.

Can you imagine the mess SFI would have on there balance sheet if they ended the IC program? 2000 plus trucks could be turned in at the same time. Now I understand they can flow them to company probably with in 3 months.
