New Premium trucks are $7k up front up now.
Not sure about the new Shakers, I think they are $3k.
You get that money back and then a little some at the end of the term.
From what I've heard SFI wants drivers that aren't broke and willing to put skin in the game to help prevent all these returned trucks that have been going on.

My Kenworth had issues and was new, look at @CaptainDaveG and the multiple problems he's had with his new Cascadia.
One bad breakdown and anybody could be out of work for a while.
All the new trucks suck these days and a used one might be lower down payment but you'd likely be getting a truck another driver turned in early.. think that driver cared about spending his money to take care of the truck? lol.

    CaptainDaveG Thanks this.

Knowing Schneider and the Crapcadias they order how is it crazy?
They order thousands of these same exact trucks yearly (while removing the governor and adding APU for thr SFI trucks) and probably get huge discounts while charging you full price flease on them lol.

Volvo and Petes and KW now 7k down. Just paid mine a few weeks ago. If your paying 3 for a new Freightliner beg, borrow, steal the other 4 grand it's well worth it....it's a WHOLE LOT MORE TRUCK and a lot more resale at the end.

Also for the record my truck has been out of service 19 straight days once due to Speedco etc cost to me nothing did get an extra 100 k miles on drive train from Detroit. Wasn't behind on payments as I always pay extra each week. Then I have been down 7 partial days due to DEF issues. New doesn't always mean perfect. Like FW says paying for new is the piece of mind it will all be good. I can tell you when it breaks you spend every waking moment thinking about it and your business. I know SFI will work with people to get caught back up on payments if your trucks has a major failure. Lone Mountain would just repo it.

I would say you should have 10 k in reserves plus your down payment to come to choice. I don't know if your a Pumkin driver now I was not but it's a learning curve to teach yourself "money to the truck vs. The more I drive the more miles ai do the more money I make as a company guy. "

I'm going to have to go with a used cascadia for the first year of they are at 7 k now. Didn't know SFI would actually work with guys like that...I know they did with FW, but he is also the Choice poster child :p! Was planning on doing a year with a SFI Cascadia and then going to Lone Mountain to get something, but if they are that quick to repo, maybe not. Not saying they are in the wrong...when you sign an agreement, you have a responsibility. Still, it's nice to know you have a company that will work with you when #### hits the fan!

Captain Dave, weren't you a company driver at Millis Transfer a couple of years back? How long have you been leasing at Schneider?
