After owning 6 different trucks, I can honestly say "no truer words have been spoken"

But but but, it looks good and that's what all the recruitment posters show it takes to be a "real" owner operator and live the dream you see in movies. They don't show raggedy old run down trucks except in junk yards or being blown up.

^^*That was me being very sarcastic*^^
On a more serious note, you are correct, a basic truck that gets the job done makes just as much money (if not more since you're not spending it on chrome) as a chicken light covered truck does.

Thanks Dip, it looks like that's the route I'll go...hopefully can find a lower mileage DT12 Cascadia with a TriPac...don't want ANYTHING a to do with the EPU! I honestly don't need anything fancy to start...I really just want the trolley brake and air bag dump that I've had on every truck since I started driving. I know Schneider wanted to cut corners on cost, but IMO, those are necessities.
BTW, do the TriPacs that Schneider installs have inverters also? Do they charge the truck batteries, or are they just setup for HVAC?

I didn't say to have a pimped out truck lol.
Just said something a little more comfortable.
The payments between a Cascadia and a Kenworth or Peterbilt is barely different.
If it be through here or say at Lone mountain

But didn't the one they give you have the stripper pole and disco lights in it? That would fall under the category of excessive, lol.

    Everybodys want/needs are different.
Some view a truck as strickly work and want to squeeze last dime out of their operation as possible even at the expense of their comfort.
I on the other hand prefer to be a little more comfortable for a few less dollars.
My comfort has value too, a few more dollars at the expense of my comfort isn't worth it to me. Thats the same reason I havent gone little flatbed, the little bit more money aint worth all the bs and breaking my back.
A few more dollars a week ain't gonna make much difference in my life.
As was said many times before... this isn't simply a job, it's a lifestyle.

Schneider doesn't speck any trucks with a trolly brake /johnson bar. I was stunned that there wasn't one on the dash when I started with them. I asked why and was told that drivers would use it incorrectly and cause a jackknife. As for the air dump, that's just cheapness.

I'm seriously looking at SNI gliders and the first thing I'm adding if I buy one is a johnson brake

Now if you hooked those up to a sensor that makes them flash to the bass line of the music you listen to, it would make them more exciting :biggrin_25525:

Just an FYI, I wanted to go the same route with one of their used gliders, and I was told they won't sign them on since they don't meet EPA2010 standards. If you hear otherwise, please let me know and tell me your source...I'd love to run a pre emissions S60 rather than ANY smog motor!
