    Here is my point

    http://www.lonemountaintruck.com/inventory/

Take a basic Volvo 670 vs a loaded Volvo 780.
The difference over 5 years is an extra $31 per week.
$31 a week shouldn't meant squat if you're running a smart profitable operation.
For me, enjoying my work more.. being more comfortable is worth those few more dollars.

Just an FYI on SFI, the Kenworth will save you money on scale tickets.
They have a 5th wheel gauge that Freightliners from Schneider dont have. In other words I can get a pretty good idea how much weight is on my 5th wheel and compare that to my bills to adjust my tandems if need be.
I do 10+ loads a week and most are heavy.
However having that gauge I rarely have to scale. Thats time and money saved each week.
Something to consider when getting any truck.

I'm a current IC on Choice and was specifically told I could bring a glider on...

I'm looking at used ones from SNI....

The Permit Dept takes care of onboarding trucks, they told me this...

But I will double-check again tmrw...

    Roll on...

I was told exactly the same thing. It's fine to sign on with a glider. I just talked to the recruiter Thursday last week. (Btw, in Chicago, there's about a 6 week for orientation)

I'm having a really hard choice to make right now. I qualify for the choice program (if I buy a newer truck), but I may just stay a tanker yanker. There's a lot of guys on the choice board and I'm afraid the rates are going to keep getting worse. I'm kind of thinking I can still make more hauling tanks, I'll just have to give up as little dispatch control.

We can end all this talk it's the same buy old vs new. FW is a young guy we all know he stays out its his choice and lifestyle and that's great. Me I'm 50 got the retirement check every month thank you USCG. But after having a really nice KW at Millis and now having a Freightliner, I decided weeks ago new Volvo I won't have another Paccar motor ever! The difference between my Freightliner and Volvo are under 5 grand. Yes I am taking a left over 2016 Volvo but it's new never titled etc. I always pay 300.00 per week extra on my truck yes every week... I have added a ton of stuff to make my Freightliner more comfortable, swiveling seat, microwave, fridge, heck I even got an ice maker ...I had my truck custom stripped I can go on and on. Point is yes a truck is a truck. Did I mention memory foam mattress... It's what one wants...

Oh PS why not buy a really nice Freightliner because everyone of there dealerships BLOW ...

Well are you happy with where you're at? Are the numbers better there than what you've seen where?

Please let me know Sadwar...I'd much rather purchase a glider then lease a newer truck. That and I would be purchasing, not leasing, so while they are pretty bare bones, I can slowly do what I like with the truck and not be bound by lease rules on "modifying" ie, pulling out a cabinet and putting a dorm fridge in.

No I'm not happy. Company hired a bunch of new guys and there's not enough work to keep everyone busy. Last 2 months my checks have been down $1,000/week

I'm actively looking for another home, but I don't think I'm able to make the money I want and need home every weekend unless I haul a tank.

    You are spot on.
    Good luck with your Volvo.

As for me.. yup it's all a personal choice.
If i had a family my operation would be completely and would move to area I actually run in.
However I don't have a family or a home where i run sooo I choose to stay out.

I was trying to get on with Intermodel, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I even had my old TM pushing for it, but GB is saying no. (Intermodel is desperate for drivers in Chicago, but there is a hiring freeze for IC's for over a year now. Welcome to SNI logic)
