I haven't had a really heavy load yet. I'm anxious to see myself. The coolest part, in combination with the AT, is that pushing the jake lever down (it then springs back to "high" setting) causes an immediate downshift. It's the only "gearshift lever" I have.
Maybe at some point I will stop turning on the wipers when I am setting the jake lol.

I like the Western Star for the simple fact it has(in my opinion of course) the most reliable power train currently available(DD15) without the woes of the shoddy Cascadia build and SAMBUS

Do some research on the new western stars..seems they're having the same quality issues the Freightliners are.
As for the jake on the Volvo's..they do a great job.
Just pull it down to max and drop a gear and they hold just fine.
If you don't have that shifter on the seat..I feel for you.
Shifting up/down with the i-shift makes it easier to handle.

Just remember when backing..if you tap the brake it puts the i-shift in creep mode.
Truck will actually stop if you don't give it throttle.
Yes Freightliner bought WS out sometime back.
Makes you question build quality.
I like FL's but wouldn't buy one from SNI..company spec'd truck all the way.
Of course they are giving you the choice to get a upgraded one now..different interior, gauge package etc.
Maybe someone will chime in that has one.mxpx148 and workingklasshero Thank this. -
