I haven't had a really heavy load yet. I'm anxious to see myself. The coolest part, in combination with the AT, is that pushing the jake lever down (it then springs back to "high" setting) causes an immediate downshift. It's the only "gearshift lever" I have.

Maybe at some point I will stop turning on the wipers when I am setting the jake lol.

Lol, even if they had them, I can't see being profitable at the current rates getting 5 mpg :p

I like the Western Star for the simple fact it has(in my opinion of course) the most reliable power train currently available(DD15) without the woes of the shoddy Cascadia build and SAMBUS

Do some research on the new western stars..seems they're having the same quality issues the Freightliners are.

As for the jake on the Volvo's..they do a great job.
Just pull it down to max and drop a gear and they hold just fine.
If you don't have that shifter on the seat..I feel for you.
Shifting up/down with the i-shift makes it easier to handle.

Yeah looking for and then pushing "R" on the dash when bumping a dock is not intuitive at all. I want to be looking in the mirror and shifting simultaneously like with a manual. And the buttons on the dash are considered an upgrade, to a '59 Rambler. It does give me more freedom of movement in and out of the seat but it's not worth the tradeoff.

Just remember when backing..if you tap the brake it puts the i-shift in creep mode.
Truck will actually stop if you don't give it throttle.

Yes Freightliner bought WS out sometime back.
    Makes you question build quality.
I like FL's but wouldn't buy one from SNI..company spec'd truck all the way.
Of course they are giving you the choice to get a upgraded one now..different interior, gauge package etc.
Maybe someone will chime in that has one.

Didn't hear about probs with Western Star outside of the DD16, but that doesn't mean they don't have them. #### shame if they are having problems...detracts from an otherwise beautiful truck(outside of the dash lol)

If they are actually giving a choice for an "owner op" style spec now, that's great! A buddy of mine out in Cali runs Choice and has a 2015 SFI spec Cascadia...been a great truck for him, but man is it stripped! Couldn't believe they didn't have air bag dump or even a trolley brake
