That is what I've heard...I would love to go over there be form relationships with brokers to find loads, but ididnt think I would be able to survive on what the board rates look like while I do that lol.

The way I view this is I know there is money to be made leasing a new truck. But for me anyway I don't want to even think about owning the truck out of warranty. So this only leads me to re leasing every 3 years. So never any real pay off. I could be looking at this entirely wrong. Just my thoughts. Was just hoping the manufacturers would get a handle on things but that's not looking good either.

I've heard really good things about the DD15...if only they would put them in something besides Daimler trucks...

You don't do it for hours. You put a few chains on in 10 to 15 minutes then another 20 to tarp. Every once in a while(3 to 5 a winter) you get that royal pia load that takes 2 hours. Work for 20 jump in the 70 degree cab for 5. Repeat.

Grab a van if ya want, just don't let tarps be the reason you don't get a flat. Its not like every load is tarped. I haven't even touched mine since june.

I may be making it worse than it is...I honestly don't have any experience with it. Like I said, I was in Frederick, MD Jan-June of 2014 at Ft Detrick putting up an antenna system. The first day we got on site, it was -2...was supposedly the worst winter they have had there in a long time. Spent 10-12 hrs/day 6 days a week working in - to single digit temperatures for a while...kinda burnt me out on working out in the cold for extended periods of time lol. Believe it or not, it was worse there than Alaska!

I get it man. I hate winter. It's why i moved to florida almost 20 years ago. I'm allergic to any temperatures under 70. But i still gotta go up there to work. Seriously I'm the biggest wimp there is when it comes to cold, so if i can handle it there is no way you couldn't.

Pay extra for for a nice hotel and call it a vacation. Mind over matter.
