Yes they do pay better but problem is a lot of them go to dead areas.

What good is a 120 mile load paying $500 if it goes onto long island which had no loads and you'll spend half the day in traffic?

Back a year ago when there was a lot more freight it was a lot easier to pile on short loads, now not so much.
It still can be done but takes a lot of effort and planning

    RStewart and mxpx148 Thank this.

Yeah, Long Island is the black pit of despair with freight lol. Used to pull a load for my old company now and then paying high $3.xx/mi going in, then always had to dead head to NJ/PA for a dirt load, so I see your point.

For the week ending yesterday I worked 5 days in the NE and revenued $4300 on 2120 miles, so $2 a mile...

I can't remember the last time I did that, and this week is going much worse....

Last year you could do that every week and only work 4 days...

    Roll on...

The economy is in shambles that's the one problem and you're right we're having to work harder to make the same amount we did last year sucks but I guess it is what it is for the moment hopefully it improves

I no longer can pull off $2 weeks in the midwest. 1.70-1.90 is the norm now

Have you found a load out of va? What area are you in? If your close to the Norfolk area loads will pop up throughout the day that pay decent. You will need to be fast though.

    No load yet.
    I'll be by Charlottesville tomorrow.

I could go to NC for about $1.35
    That's worst case scenario.
My deadline is 5pm, i must be booked by then. Same day loads suck
