Usually I think it's like every other month. Sometimes the news doesn't report it because Pelosi always has something to dangle in front of the cameras.
And yes, people driving around the plows up here are morons. I watched one try passing on the right back in 2012. We had a really bad storm, dumped 26 inches on us. The plows were out, 5 lined up on a 3 lane highway. Someone tried using the shoulder and I watched their car literally get swept on top on the last plow's 'curl' of snow and literally surf the snow like it was a wave.......right into the ditch lol.
I don't get anywhere near them...the salt messes my car up pretty bad, hate the stuff. So I'm usually out in front somewhere going all out with snow tires on in the truck.

City of Rocky River, Ohio 1.5ton dump trucks
So we had some snow today, not it's raining, but this was the first snow we had that really put everyone into battle mode. However it was pretty much just a minor scrimmage. Over all everything worked well I thought a couple tweaks, but everyone seems to be ready and waiting. -
Ours is coming down as I write this. May get 2" in the city and surrounding areas, let's hope DSNY dumped enough salt to light things off tomorrow.

Transformers all that salts good for over time. I can't say they dumped a ton of salt here, but it was very heavy wet snow. They'll be dumping salt tomorrow though, it rained all afternoon and maybe a little more snow and then cold. That'll make for a good amount of ice!

It's supposed to rain this evening but then go down into the 20s, so they should be salting like crazy. Tomorrow's in the 40s but then I don't think we go over freezing at all next week.

City of Newark, New Jersey 1960s first generation Leach 2R, the city of Newark had 6 of these first generation 1 Leach 2Rs. These were beefy 25 cubic yard units that were built on Diamond T chassis and also doubled as snow fighters.
There's still some small towns in upstate New York that do the whole garbage truck snow plow thing, it's popular in Wisconsin and Chicago does a little bit of it too. Not so much here in Ohio though, the real small village of Woodmere, Ohio is the only town that has the snow plow garbage truck. They have 1 Sterling Actera and it has this tiny little 10 yard Newway packer body and it also has a snow plow and that's the only snow plow garbage truck I see here in Cleveland, every other city they have separate trucks for snow fighting.Itsbrokeagain Thanks this. -
@Itsbrokeagain
Do you remember this Blizzard of 93' did that effect you in New York City?
Itsbrokeagain Thanks this. -
I didn't live in NY at the time, my parents moved us back up here in 98. My grandpa however had retired two years prior from Con Edison and bought himself a brand new Ariens blower. I have a pic of him somewhere with it during that storm.

Look at this thing, this is a rear load garbage packer trailer made by the Canadian Company Fanotech, it's a rear load garbage truck that you would see in a neighborhood only it's a what 36-40' trailer. If you were a city you could probably buy 1 of these and eliminate 2 routes. Probably can do 1400 houses.
They said Fanotech's rear loaders were pretty much a knock off of the American Company EZPak's Goliath sever duty rear load refuse truck.Itsbrokeagain Thanks this.
