As for one of the better places to take a 34 hr break, Troutdale OR, there is a TA and Love's nearby and lots of nice shops and restaurants.

You can even take a short walk and be in a State forrest, and the icing on the cake is that it's a short drive away from a couple of our customers.

Been here a year and 2 months, my experience has been much the same Pigbacon. Not much for online chat but always lurking. I always send new employees to check out the Magnum threads. I'll be following this one as well now.

Another satisfied Magnum driver here despite my occasional venting (aka #####ing and moaning) in the other thread. Good equipment, apu, refrigerator, not micromanaged. Ive made several friends working here. Big enough company to address issues quick but small enough that you don't feel like just a number.

I don't have a lot of advise being a new driver but I will say this. After only being here 2 months I got a call from home that my son was in the ER getting prepped for emergency surgery after being sick for several days. I was in Wisconsin so I called Paul and dispatch and they had me split my load and on the way home within hours, no questions asked. Got all the time I needed and was never bugged to get back out. I sent an email to dispatch thanking them for working me home so quickly. I got a two word reply: Family first.

Just because it's a cliche', doesn't mean it's not true.

I had a load going to NJ another driver mother was put in the hospital they sent me 200 miles out of Route to give her my load she was empty (they got me another load to pick up near her). Then she took it took another driver to swap again with another driver that was empty sent her home. She was home within 12 hours.

Yes it definitely took a team effort, and I tend to not get all bent out of shape when asked a favor. I figure someone else is in a rough spot and must it be part of the many pieces in motion to get them taken care of.

That's the way to get some good miles from dispatch in the future, they remember those who help them
