Yep, that one is usually pretty clean and free of riff raff. I find it quite amazing that nobody has taken the initiative to find a huge chunk of land to put a decent sized truck stop around Charlotte. Couple small ones down 74 in Indian Trail, that "Charlotte Travel Plaza" up 77, and the Peelot on Statesville Rd. Other than that, you have to "make" parking somewhere around there. T/A would clean up if they put a decent sized facility off 85 or 77. I wonder why they havent?

I think the closest TA is down 85 well into South Carolina.

There was a decent sized truck stop off I-77 at Sunset Road until a few years ago. Charlotte does not like trucks all that well.

There is the Hess at the SC line on 85 also.

that pilot is beyond a crap hole... one day traffic was literally backed up down the ramp going north and across the bridge coming from southbound, and the ghetto broads that worked inside didn't make the experience any better... wasnt there a truck stop down the street or so?? a shell station or a citgo??

Back open as of 2:00pm yesterday.

I don't think there is another truck stop close to that Peelot. Yeah, I hate that peelot, no doubt, but I gotta give them credit for trying to clean that rat hole up. A lot of the ghettofabulous loser types are gone, but most of them (not all) who replaced them at least have a clue.

Seemed pretty clean when they reopened yesterday, although most of that has to do with the rebuild after the fire. All new ceiling tiles, seeing as they had to rewire just about the entire store.

I've only been there once and that was good enough for me.

I had seen a bum hitting up all the truckers for money and I told him by gesture my index finger telling him "No "immediately before getting to my truck and he still came up to my door and pounded on my window hard. I came real close to jumping out and putting him into a nap next to fuel pump. I clearly told him.no, next time I might not be so friendly. I hate aggressive bums and criminals. I am from Detroit and lived in Atlanta. They don't intimidate me.

Oh, what caused the fire? How much damage was done? How long did it take to get it going again?

    Thanks.

The fire? I don't think they have, but I think there working on it. Since it didn't burn completely down, they need to find another way... :laughing-guffaw:
