The only other times I’ve heard of eminent domain being used to close truck stops is in Denver and the old T/A in Troutville,VA off of I-81.
That one is no longer listed in the locations guide, but, they have a lot of jobs listed for store # 405. Someone has not updated the hiring page.
Pilot# 405 is the one on the north side of Pleasant Run Road-the LARGER one of the two Pilots! EDIT: Looks like BOTH PILOTS were bought by the state and shut down permanently,as they’re planning to expand US-78 to a 6 lane highway! I guess they’re try to get the highway up to interstate standards to bring it in line when it turns into I-22 heading southeast towards Birmingham.
One of the truck stops in Georgia at exit 10 on I-75 got closed by the state taking the land to widen the road . one was a speedway and one was a pilot. The speedway got bought by Hess and then bought by flying j pilot and rebranded as a pilot . So there was two pilots at the exit . also the small one at exit 16 on I-285 around Atlanta got closed a couple of years ago due to widening of the interstate .
