I got chosen to be part of a pilot program wherein the company gets you a reserved spot so you don't have to worry about finding parking later and you can maximize your driving time.

Sounds sweet. Especially since I might stop early for a guaranteed spot rather than push on and need to weasel into some blind spot between two swift trucks.

Was expecting some message about here is your reservation or something bit didn't get anything so I took the initiative and messaged dbl. I told them where I planned on stopping; their message back was that wasn't possible.

I had planned on having to sit and wait for load to be ready at shipper but the load was ready when I got there so that saved time and I was able to go on.

Not sure how this program is going to work out if a spot can't be reserved of that is where I'm planning to stop.

Btw, the loaded trailer is a 93xxxx without skirts.

That's sweet!! Do they clean the spot and blow dry it too?

I don't know, it started today but haven't had the chance to use it.

They probably sweep the pee bottles out off the spot.

^^ Maybe mention to your company, that they should coordinate with Truckerpath, or a similar app? Should be smoother if tied to an app, like 'everything else' in this world, LoL.

    ####.
If truck stops catch onto this free parking in general will be a thing of the past.

Imagine pulling up to a Pilot and a security guard asks, "What time is your parking appointment? ...you have 10 hours, and thank you for choosing Pilot"

Here's to hoping they find somebody better to set your parking appointments then what they do for pickup and delivery appointments

So, maximize drive time.. What happens if you plan on driving 600 miles today with a truck stop perfectly positioned at that distance. And then there's accidents, detours and road work that only allows you to go 500 before your 11 runs out? Will they reserve you a second spot since you can't make it to the first one?

Also remember you can only reserve a space if its actually available. The few times I tried to reserve a spot at TA, Petro thy were booked up already.

What happens if once you get there, reserve spots are full with drivers? I doubt the truck stop is going to force someone to move that hasn't paid. Most employees don't care either way.

Really this program is only really going to work once you have an assignment that takes you into the next day. If you have a delivery in the afternoon, they can't reserve you a spot for a load that has not been dispatched to you yet.

I personally keep a couple hours not planned in reserve in case an area doesn't have parking. Those drivers that are running that ragged edge are going to get caught in the cold if they don't track hours.
