Never had Ducan, but grinding your own Dunkin is pretty good.
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
I used be one of those that grinded my own and had a special coffee maker at home.
The difference between a fine grind and a more course grind can be night and day in the tastes.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
Exactly how many coffee beans, ground up, makes one cup of coffee? If the machine shorts you a bean or two, can you complain to the person at the register and get your two beans?
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
shogun and otterinthewater Thank this.

I didn’t read the entire thread, but loves is adding the identical machines now.
Oldironfan Thanks this. -
This is what the bottom of a real cup of coffee looks like.

I am betting Pilot and others are switching to the one cup at a time brewing machines to eliminate wasted coffee, which depending on the cost of the beans is substantial. I would be curious to know what the maintenance procedure is and whether or not unmotivated minimum wage employees will do it properly. Or will they bring in an outside vendor to do it, given the savings realized from the waste.
There are many factors and opinions about what constitutes "good" coffee, as you can see from this discussion. Being a retailer trying to appease that market is a challenge. Many restaurant experts opine that it is the little things that cause a restaurant to be a success, things like coffee properly brewed with quality ingredients. The same applies here.
I won't drink the crap at TA/Petro unless they are a Dunkin donuts location. I will try the Pilot machines and give you a full report.Oldironfan Thanks this. -
Studebaker Hawk Thanks this.
