Anyone bought & installed the kit they have for the '05 twin turbo Cat. I have heard they take it down to a single turbo and bypass the egr ?? It has to run/breath better but will I get a return on my money ... MPG's !!!

As 05379 said...IT DOESN"T HAVE EGR! If Pittsburgh Power told you it does then you really should run the other way. In all honesty the only reason I see to truely convert a ACERT over to a single turbo would be if you are having constant trouble with the IVA systems. The mileage and horsepower gains can be gained with a lot less money of you research a PDI tune or Bully Dog downloader and few other simple fixes. You would be surprised how much better the motors "run/breath" with just better ECM programing.

    07-379Pete Thanks this.

They didn't tell me it had the egr ... I had a 9400i (Cummins) that had one and I had read where some folks had by-passed it and increased performance. I figured the Cat had one too. Nothing is really bad with the engine ... except the mpg's seem to have dropped. I was averaging 6 and now its down to 5.5.

Where would you suggest I look to have this type work done. I'm sure there are plenty of places that will do the work but only a few probably know what they're doing. If I could get an extra .5 mpg, I'd be happy.

Tuckster, do yourself a HUGE favour and contact "Mr Haney". You are right, there ARE plenty of places that tweek these engines and many of them are probably good but, if you go with "Mr Haney" you can be assured of getting excellent service and advice. Kurt won't blow any smoke up your kilt and he knows what he's talking about.
