If tight streets bother you then you beeter hope you dont ever get sent to any colonial age towns in the Virginia's... Barely enough room for to buggies to pass, let alone get a Truck and trailer around the corners. It can be done... It just takes time and patience. Charleston, WV is a good example.
Buc, FlaSwampRat, InTooDeep and 4 others Thank this. -
Lol, yes it can be challenging! Some of our smaller country bumpkin roads and towns are not for the weak hearted

Definetally... But to be honest, I like getting off the beaten path when I have the time to spare... Or if I know of a good short cut, they can really payoff if the big road gets backed up with an accident or something. Charleston just happened to be fresh in my mind as I was there 4 days ago.
Charlottesville, VA is another prime example of tight quarters... I had to actually backup down a one way street against the flow of traffic to get out after making a delivery... Was the only way to get a Truck out from where I delivered. -
Why would any place jeoprodize your cdl. If u hit a truck that is your fault as a driver not the warehouses fault or the design. I get what ur saying some places were made for horse drawn carriages but if it takes you 3 hours and 600 times to get out and look while theres 45 trucks waiting for you to back in then thats what u gotta do .
stayinback, FlaSwampRat, kemosabi49 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Back when I drove for H&W I had a 1988 Kenworth Cabover to drive, came in handy when delivering rail to a few coal mines
..... more than once I’ve had a 988 loader pic the rear of my empty trailer up and carry it around, just to line me up with a mine opening to turn around.
Never cared much for areas like Brooklyn or the Bronxs either, always dreaded them places.starmac, cke, stayinback and 1 other person Thank this. -
