Are you talking about a gun to shoot a temp of the product? If so they are all about the same. I purchased a few $15 models and they work just as good as the $40 ones our drivers had before that. The ones I bought are two years old and never had a battery change and are still kicking. The drivers that already had the $40 model when I got here have had theirs for about 4 years now and those are still ticking also. The drivers check the calibration with a cup of ice water. Can't change the calibration on the models I bought but you can tell if it is off.

This is similar to the ones we bought last.

Not sure, but when I measure heat of a tire or whatnot with mine, it's the inside temperature. Same with the refrigerator. It's going inside, the core temp. Can't tell you about produce, though...never tried that, 'cause I'm not a reefer driver. Leme think of who is.... um @scottied67 ...any insight? @tscottme .. are you a reefer guy, too?

Thinking out loud, @Everett . @bulldawg trucker and @Steel Dragon may show up to answer too. I'm curious to the answer, myself.

Infrared will only measure the skin temperature. For produce, you want a cheap dial face thermometer.

Calibrate it in a cup of ice water. It should be 32° exactly. If it's not, turn the nut on the back until the dial lines up with 32°.

You can get infrared thermometers with an attachable probe in order to physically pulp produce. That is what I used.

    No more reefer loads ever!
Too much extra bs and less pay than dry van loads.
    Why bother?
