I mean....I've had issues with the pump in the past. If it were me, I would have circled around took another pump before going inside. That way all of this mental anxiety you laid out in your post is avoided. If I can avoid holding up a driver, I certainly will do everything in my power too.

I do the same thing, only takes a minute to let the driver behind you know what is going on.

The scenario you describe only accounts for .00001% of the unattended trucks at the fuel island. When I see an unattended truck parked at the fuel island, I will continue to "Assume" it's just another A-HOLE.

Talk to other people? That sounds scary. I signed up to be left alone in my little box.

No but really. Walk back there on the second trip inside and say "Hey this pump is messed up and won't take my card. I'm going to get help. Sorry for the delay." Would solve this entire situation and let the guy waiting know he should go to another lane right away instead of making him wait forever because you are afraid of having a simple conversation.

If you’re having fuel card issues and someone is behind you, than park your truck at the parking spot and resolve it. Holding somebody up at the pump is a good way to get your trailer seal yanked off.

snowlauncher, Lonesome and bryan21384 Thank this.

There's obviously a whole lot of people who don't understand how the whole fuel card thing works, including you.
Here's the deal Einstein. If my fuel card doesn't work now, it won't work later. The only choice you have is to go inside and let them figure it out. Simply by driving around to the back does nothing at all other than to make your day longer. If your fuel card doesn't work now, it won't work by driving around the parking lot.

Your doesn’t work, mine does. Instead of wasting 30 minutes of my time, park the truck and call fuel card provider. Easy and simple. I’ve had fuel card issues and never had a need to block somebody nor waste someone’s time.

    Lonesome and bryan21384 Thank this.
